ERS is seeking a Network Administrator to perform advanced to highly advanced (senior-level) duties to ensure the efficient and effective operation of agency data networking and Unified Communications (UC) systems. Work involves advanced data networking and UC tasks related to the IT systems lifecycle; this includes planning, analysis, design, implementation, integration, evaluation, testing, security, documentation, training, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and decommissioning tasks related to existing and potential systems. Lead/manage initiatives and projects, including highly complex planning, design, and integration of data networks and related systems. Works under minimal supervision of the Network Services Manager with considerable to extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Performs advanced to highly advanced administration, monitoring, and technical support of enterprise network infrastructure technologies, including data center, backbone, edge, and office building wired and wireless systems.
- Performs advanced to highly advanced administration and technical support of enterprise network security devices and technologies including web and email filtering, network access and control systems, Virtual Private Networks, and firewalls.
- Performs advanced to highly advanced administration and technical support of communications systems including telephony, videoconferencing, and mobile/cellular communication devices, infrastructure, technologies, and services.
- Researches, assesses, evaluates, and implements new, upgraded, and developing systems, technologies, and standards to enhance agency enterprise IT operations. Provides recommendations and risk assessments of new features, capacity and licensing requirements, high-availability, and integrations.
- Participates in the development and documentation of best practices, operating procedures, guidelines and metrics, and provide quality control through the application of standards and by ensuring that agency's business needs are met.
- Analyzes existing procedures for efficiency and effectiveness.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
- Complies with all applicable agency policies and procedures, including safety and standards of conduct.
- Performs on-call or scheduled after-hours work as required.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Your application for employment must reflect how you meet each of the following minimum qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in data processing, computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or a related field. Each year of qualifying experience over the required amount may substitute for the education requirement on a 30 semester hour per year basis.
- Five (5) to six (6) years of general experience (depending on classification level) in an enterprise technology environment in a role performing data network administration and support.
- To qualify as a Network Specialist VI: Two (2) years of experience supporting network security systems, such as firewalls, web/email filter systems, and network access control systems.
Preferred Qualifications: Your application for employment should reflect how you meet the following preferred qualifications:
- Two (2) to four (4) years of experience (depending on classification level) in an enterprise technology environment performing senior-level data network administration and support.
- Two (2) to three (3) years of experience (depending on classification level) supporting Cisco wired networking equipment.
- One (1) to two (2) years of experience (depending on classification level) supporting Cisco wireless networking equipment.
- Two (2) to three (3) years of experience (depending on classification level) supporting network security systems, such as firewalls, web/email filter systems, and network access control systems.
- Experience administering and supporting telecommunications systems and solutions, including Unified Communications (UC) solutions.
