Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Unix/Linux Security & Infrastructure Engineer to support enterprise infrastructure, cybersecurity remediation, system hardening, and compliance initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Unix/Linux administration, shell scripting, vulnerability remediation, AWS/cloud infrastructure, automation, and security controls.
This role will work closely with Security, Architecture, Cloud, Infrastructure, and Application teams to remediate cybersecurity findings, improve infrastructure security, support production environments, and reduce technology risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Unix/Linux operating system upgrades, patching, configuration, and security hardening across enterprise environments.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and remediate cybersecurity vulnerabilities and compliance findings.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize Unix shell scripts for automation and operational efficiency.
- Support application teams with remediation, testing, deployment, and production implementation activities.
- Participate in the decommissioning of legacy infrastructure to reduce security and technology risks.
- Collaborate with Security, Architecture, Cloud, Infrastructure, and Application teams to achieve security and compliance objectives.
- Implement and validate security controls in Unix/Linux environments.
- Document remediation activities, implementation procedures, technical solutions, and operational runbooks.
- Support production changes, troubleshooting, and emergency remediation activities as required.
- Monitor infrastructure and remediation activities and provide status updates, risks, issues, and progress reports to project leadership.
- Assist with infrastructure automation, monitoring, and CI/CD-related activities.
- Troubleshoot complex Unix/Linux, networking, cloud, and infrastructure issues.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 6+ years of hands-on Unix/Linux administration experience.
- Strong experience with Shell Scripting, including Bash, KornShell (KSH), and/or Python.
- Proven experience in vulnerability remediation and security hardening.
- Strong understanding of Linux/Unix security controls, patching, configuration, and compliance.
- Working knowledge of AWS and cloud infrastructure.
- Understanding of networking concepts and enterprise security controls.
- Experience with CI/CD tools, infrastructure automation, and monitoring solutions.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
- Experience working in enterprise production environments with formal change-management processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on cybersecurity remediation or compliance-driven infrastructure projects.
- Experience with legacy infrastructure migration or decommissioning.
- Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code and automation technologies.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional Security, Cloud, Infrastructure, and Application teams.
- Familiarity with enterprise vulnerability management and security assessment tools.
- Experience creating technical runbooks, remediation plans, and implementation documentation.
