Description

SAIC is currently seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented mid-level Automation Engineer to join our team to begin an exciting and challenging career in Ashburn, VA.

This position is hybrid-remote. 2 days on-site in Ashburn, VA per week is required.

Job Responsibilities

Day-to-day test engineering duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Developing test scripts.
  • Generating test data.
  • Data Validation.
  • Web service testing.
  • Data interface message testing preferably with XML message set.
  • Developing SQL or Unix scripts for test data generation or test harness automation.
  • Executing regression, functional, and system testing.
  • Verifying results and producing test summaries and defect reports.
  • Identifying defects and requirement discrepancies.
  • Generating Jira tickets that identify defect description, with repeatable steps to reproduce the error.
  • Collaborating with development team members on understanding the defect and retesting when resolved.


Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related engineering field with 5+ years of technical experience.
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in software test execution, as well as creation and implementation of Test Strategies, Test Plans, Manual Test Cases and Automated Test Scripts.
  • Strong experience with the following:
    • Selenium.
    • Cucumber.
    • Playwright.
  • Some API testing experience.
  • Experience in backend testing is a prerequisite.
  • At least 3 years of software development (in Java and SQL programming) experience plus the ability to utilize that experience to develop a strong test approach.
  • Strong SQL development skills (preferably PL-SQL) and solid understanding of relational databases, which will be utilized when testing in a large database.
  • Ability to understand data models and write test scripts based on the data model.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with any one of the following Test Management Software (HP Mercury suite of tools -QuickTestPro, Test Director, LoadRunner, Quality Center) to conduct functional, regression and performance testing.
  • Evaluate test results, report on and manage defects in a timely fashion.

Desired Skills and Experience
  • Experience in all stages of application testing, including backend testing, functional, usability, regression, load/stress and performance testing.
  • Experience with integration level testing, requiring ability to work with both big picture & in-depth domain knowledge.
  • Proven ability to develop, execute and maintain automated test suites across multiple environments: Back-end applications, Web Services, UI, and desktop.
  • Web Service testing using Soap UI with basic XML knowledge.
  • Ability to define and generate meaningful test metrics.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills. Must have the ability to present solutions to technical and non-technical project members.
  • Experience with XML and NIEM a plus.
  • Experience working in an agile development process is a plus.
  • Master's degree in computer science or related field is a plus.

Customer Requirements
  • Clearance - Ability to obtain and hold a public trust position and favorable suitability based on a CBP Background Investigation.
  • Location - Hybrid with on-site (Ashburn, VA) visits 2 days per week and if a mission need. All candidates must be within the GWA/commutable area.
