JOB TITLE: ECU Diagnostic Specialist
JOB TYPE: Full Time
DAYS/HOURS: 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday, standard business hours.
LOCATION: 2831 Research Drive, Rochester Hills, MI 48309

What does the ECU Diagnostic Specialist do?
The Production Operations team is currently seeking an individual for an automotive Diagnostic Specialist position. The Production Operation team is responsible for all of the diagnostic content supported by the client’s scan tools. Diagnostic content consists of sensor reads, input and output reads, actuators, OBD II monitors, diagnostic procedures, etc. The Diagnostic Specialist must be a highly motivated, self-starter that can manage many different projects at the same time. The selected individual must have a vast knowledge of vehicle on-board diagnostics and diagnostic communication protocols.
What you will be doing:
- Implement and maintain diagnostic support for ECUs on client’s scan tools.
- Manage development activities with respect to product delivery schedules.
- Creation and maintenance of procedures used by the service tool for ECU replacements and initializations.
- Direct debugging of vehicle, ECU, and tool issues upstream with client’s EE personnel.
What makes you qualified:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Automotive Technology.
- Knowledgeable with CAN, J1850, K-Line and other automotive communication bus systems.
- Knowledgeable with enhanced diagnostic communication protocols such as KWP2000 and UDS.
- Strong working knowledge of Vector tools such and CANalyzer and CANdela.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be highly self-motivated and self-starter with strong interpersonal skills.

What makes you an All-Star:
- Background in automotive plant process and vehicle data flow through plant systems.
- Understanding of Vehicle PROXI/Configuration process.
- Working knowledge of vehicle electrical architectures.
- Background in service; Dealership or aftermarket shop.
- Understanding of current Right to Repair legislation.
Can you meet these physical demands?
- Non-strenuous with low risk; primarily sedentary with some walking, standing, and carrying of light objects; Adequately lighted, ventilated, and heated area where normal precautions must be observed
What kind of work environment are you getting into?
- Work is generally performed within a normal office environment using standard office equipment; Moderate noise typical of a business office; Travel for company business required to attend off-site meetings, etc.; May require early morning, night, and weekend work assignments; Interaction with contracted providers, staff and vendors by phone and face-to-face will be constant and may be interruptive; Work may be stressful at times.
