Job Summary

We are seeking a Mid-Level Project Manager to manage utility installation and relocation projects from initiation through completion. The ideal candidate will have experience in electric, gas, water utilities, civil construction, or engineering projects, with strong skills in project management, construction plan interpretation, contract/bid review, and financial forecasting.

This role will support projects across the West Suburban Illinois region and requires regular travel to project sites for field walkdowns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage utility and civil construction projects from initiation through completion.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, milestones, budgets, and resource requirements.
  • Review and interpret civil construction and utility plans/drawings.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams, contractors, vendors, utilities, and other stakeholders.
  • Review contract proposals, bids, estimates, and project documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly project financial forecasts and cash-flow projections.
  • Monitor project costs, budgets, schedules, risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Lead project meetings and communicate project status to stakeholders and management.
  • Conduct regular field visits and project walkdowns.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Maintain project documentation, schedules, reports, and financial records.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and according to quality requirements.
  • Support project management best practices and process improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Project Management experience.
  • Experience in electric, gas, or water utilities; civil construction; or engineering.
  • Direct experience with utility installation, relocation, or infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil construction/utility plans.
  • Experience reviewing contract proposals, bids, and estimates.
  • Hands-on experience with project financial forecasting and monthly cash-flow management.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical field, Project Management, or related discipline.
  • PMP certification required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Utility relocation experience with a utility company, construction firm, or engineering firm.
  • Experience supporting electric utility projects.
  • PMP certification and/or PE license.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent utility projects.
  • Experience working with contractors and third-party vendors.
  • Familiarity with utility construction standards and processes.
