Business Analyst for a
Part-Time contract assignment with one of our premier SaaS clients in San Jose, CA.
The Business Analyst, HR Technology, is responsible for ensuring strong portfolio governance, Jira data integrity, and disciplined execution across HR Technology initiatives and enhancements. This role serves in a dual capacity as the Jira Governance & Portfolio Hygiene lead and the HR category lead for Adobe's Software Optimization program, enabling accurate, decision-ready reporting and ensuring software intake and usage aligns with Nestware/SSC standards. The role partners closely with Portfolio & Delivery leadership, Product and Delivery Managers, and software governance bodies to maintain transparency, reduce risk, and enable informed decision-making.
Responsibilities: - Own and enforce Jira governance standards across HR Technology initiatives and enhancements, including reporting status, milestones, risks, trends, and summaries.
- Drive regular portfolio hygiene cadences to identify and address stale data, late milestones, and incomplete records.
- Govern enhancement intake and tracking (including Small Enhancement Requests), ensuring clear separation between strategic initiatives, enhancements, and run work.
- Maintain and evolve Jira and enhancement guidance to support consistent usage across HR Tech teams.
- Prepare portfolio data and insights for executive-level forums by ensuring accuracy, clarity, and risk visibility.
- Lead the HR category for the Software Optimization program by guiding requestors through Nestware, Non-Standard Request (NSR), and Software Standards Committee (SSC) processes, and partnering with governance bodies to drive compliant outcomes.
- Validate intended software usage and document exclusions to prevent overlapping tools and scope creep.
Required Skills: - 2-5 years of experience in Business Analyst.
- Experience supporting portfolio governance, delivery reporting, or operational processes in a technology or enterprise environment.
- Working knowledge of Jira (or similar tools) for initiative and enhancement tracking.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify data gaps, risks, and inconsistencies.
- Clear written communication skills and the ability to influence through documentation and standards.
- Comfort working across multiple stakeholders and navigating governance processes.
- Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
