Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Reporting Lead Consultant to lead the reporting and analytics workstream for an enterprise Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse transformation for a leading fashion retailer.
The Reporting Lead will serve as the primary onsite interface between business stakeholders, Finance, Merchandising, Planning, Supply Chain, Store Operations, IT, and the offshore BI/Data Engineering team.
The role will be responsible for translating business information needs into a governed enterprise reporting framework, defining KPIs and reporting requirements, driving reporting solution design, and ensuring that dashboards and reports provide accurate, actionable and trusted business insights.
This is primarily a business-facing BI leadership and solution ownership role rather than a hands-on report development position.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead workshops with business and executive stakeholders to understand reporting, analytics and decision-support requirements.
2. Assess existing reports, dashboards, spreadsheets and manual reporting processes.
3. Identify reporting gaps, duplication and opportunities for consolidation and automation.
4. Translate business questions into clear KPIs, metrics, dimensions, reporting requirements and acceptance criteria.
5. Facilitate agreement on enterprise KPI definitions across business functions.
6. Define the enterprise reporting framework in collaboration with the Data Architect and Snowflake team.
7. Define calculation logic, business rules, dimensions, hierarchies, filters and reporting granularity.
8. Establish a KPI / Metrics Dictionary and ensure consistent definitions across dashboards.
9. Ensure every critical KPI has an identified business owner and authoritative data source.
10. Define report organization, navigation, drill-down/drill-through requirements and user experience standards.
11. Drive reuse of common datasets, measures and reporting components rather than creating isolated reports.
12. Provide functional and solution leadership to offshore Power BI Developers.
13. Translate approved requirements into report specifications, wireframes and development-ready user stories.
14. Review dashboard designs, data visualizations, calculations and user experience.
15. Ensure dashboards enable retail analytics across relevant dimensions such as time, store, channel, product hierarchy, department, class, subclass, SKU, customer and geography.
16. UAT & Business Acceptance
17. Stakeholder Management - Act as the primary onsite reporting liaison between Executives, Business teams & Delivery team
18. Deployment & Adoption Support phased rollout of Power BI dashboards and reports and drive continuous improvement of reporting capabilities based on business needs
Required Experience
- 10 12 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Analytics, Data Warehousing or Enterprise Reporting.
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience in consulting
- At least 5 years in a BI Lead / Reporting Lead / Analytics Lead capacity.
- Strong experience leading business-facing reporting and analytics workstreams.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Power BI.
- Good understanding of Power BI semantic models, DAX, Power Query, Row-Level Security, Dashboard performance optimization & Power BI Service and deployment concepts
- Experience working with enterprise Data Warehouses, modern cloud data & AI platforms.
- Experience with Snowflake strongly preferred.
- Strong SQL and data analysis knowledge.
- Experience defining enterprise KPIs and business metrics.
- Experience with requirements gathering, data validation, reconciliation and UAT.
- Experience managing distributed onsite/offshore delivery teams.
Preferred Retail Experience
Strong preference for candidates with experience in fashion, specialty or omnichannel retail and familiarity with POS, Order Management, E-commerce, Merchandising, Merchandise Planning, Inventory / WMS, Product / PLM, ERP / Finance & Customer Service.
Knowledge of retail concepts such as sales, comp sales, AUR, UPT, conversion, sell-through, inventory turns, weeks of supply, gross margin, markdowns and open-to-buy is highly desirable.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a business-oriented BI leader who understands both retail and technology.
They should be equally comfortable discussing sales, margin, inventory and merchandising KPIs with business executives and discussing data models, Snowflake, semantic layers, Power BI and data quality with technical teams.
The Reporting Lead should ultimately become the onsite owner of the reporting workstream, ensuring that the offshore technical team builds the right solution not simply that dashboards are technically delivered.
