System Test Engineer
Introduction
We are seeking an experienced System Test Engineer with strong expertise in Automotive Embedded Systems Testing and Battery Management Systems (BMS). The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in system-level testing, requirement-based testing, HIL testing, fault injection, automotive communication protocols, and test automation. The candidate will work closely with system, software, hardware, and integration teams to validate BMS functionalities, diagnostics, safety mechanisms, and system requirements while following ASPICE, change management, and configuration management processes.
Responsibilities
System Requirements & Test Planning
- Analyze system requirements, functional requirements, safety requirements, and customer specifications.
- Review BMS architecture, interface specifications, diagnostic requirements, and system behavior.
- Identify testable requirements and define appropriate verification and validation strategies.
- Establish and maintain requirements-to-test traceability.
- Develop System Test Plans, Test Specifications, Test Procedures, Test Cases, and Test Schedules.
System & Integration Testing
- Develop and execute system-level test cases for BMS functionalities.
- Perform requirement-based, functional, integration, end-to-end, and black-box testing.
- Perform MIL/SIL and HIL testing as required.
- Validate system behavior across normal, boundary, abnormal, and failure conditions.
- Perform fault injection testing and validate system safety mechanisms.
- Verify diagnostic functionality using automotive diagnostic protocols such as UDS and OBD.
Test Automation & Tools
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks using CAPL, Python, NI TestStand, and other relevant technologies.
- Configure and maintain test benches and HIL environments.
- Configure automotive communication networks including CAN, CAN FD, LIN, and Ethernet.
- Utilize Vector CANoe/CANape, HIL platforms, OEM calibration tools, and other automotive testing tools.
- Support continuous improvement of test automation and validation processes.
Defect Management & Troubleshooting
- Identify, reproduce, document, and track defects using JIRA, ALM, RV&S, or equivalent tools.
- Support root cause analysis and troubleshooting of system, software, and integration issues.
- Collaborate with software, hardware, system integration, and other engineering teams to resolve defects.
- Analyze test failures, logs, traces, and system behavior to identify potential root causes.
Process & Collaboration
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to plan and execute system validation activities.
- Support program changes and coordinate testing activities associated with change requests.
- Follow defined Change Request and Configuration Management processes.
- Ensure testing activities comply with ASPICE standards and organizational quality processes.
- Support continuous improvement of system testing methodologies and automation frameworks.

Experience: 8+ Years
Industry: Automotive / Embedded Systems
Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering or related field
Required Technical Skills
- 8+ years of experience in Automotive Embedded Systems Testing.
- Strong experience in Battery Management System (BMS) or Battery Control Unit (BCU) testing.
- Hands-on experience with Requirement-Based Testing, System Integration Testing, Functional Testing, End-to-End Validation, Black Box Testing, and Fault Injection Testing.
- Strong knowledge of automotive communication protocols: CAN / CAN FD, J1939, OBD, UDS, LIN, and Ethernet.
- Experience with test automation and scripting using CAPL, Python, NI TestStand, and Automation Framework Development.
- Experience with Vector CANoe / CANape.
- Hands-on experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing and test benches.
- Experience with MIL/SIL testing.
- Experience with OEM calibration tools.
- Knowledge of RV&S, GitLab, JIRA, ALM, or similar requirements/defect management tools.
- Strong understanding of system requirements, functional requirements, safety requirements, interfaces, and diagnostic specifications.
- Experience with ASPICE-compliant development and testing processes.
- AUTOSAR application development knowledge is an added advantage.
Battery Management System Domain Knowledge

Preferred Skills
- Experience working with OEM calibration tools.
- Experience with AUTOSAR application development.
- Experience with dSPACE or NI HIL platforms.
- Knowledge of automotive functional safety concepts.
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 is a plus.
- Experience working in ASPICE-compliant automotive development environments.
