Description The Cyber Capabilities Engineer supports the design, development, and demonstration of innovative cyber solutions that address operational and technical needs. Using foundational technical and software engineering skills, this role contributes to delivering critical capabilities. The junior engineer assists throughout the project lifecycle-from refining requirements and development to testing, integration, and delivery-while ensuring quality results that comply with cybersecurity standards. Collaboration, learning, and contributing to team success are key focus areas in this role, which operates in dynamic, multidisciplinary environments.
The Cyber Capabilities Engineer contributes to SAIC's mission of delivering high-quality software development. By supporting the creation of solutions that meet cybersecurity and operational requirements, this role helps deploy important cyber capabilities that contribute to overall mission success.
Responsibilities: - Assist in designing, developing, and delivering software capabilities to meet operational and technical requirements.
- Support innovative solutions and contribute to overcoming technical challenges with guidance from senior engineers.
- Participate in system and component-level testing to help produce scalable, interoperable, and reliable solutions.
- Collaborate with team members to integrate cyber capabilities into systems, ensuring alignment with deliverables and operational goals.
- Contribute to all phases of the cybersecurity solutions lifecycle, including refining requirements, creating documentation, and incorporating stakeholder feedback.
- Assist in troubleshooting and implementing updates to maintain system integrity, reliability, and compliance with cybersecurity standards.
- Help prepare technical demonstrations and supporting deliverables such as test plans and user guides to ensure successful engagement with stakeholders.
- Support the identification of risks during development and assist in developing mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
Qualifications - Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience. Additional experience of certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Active TS/SCI clearance is required.
- Applicable DoD 8140 (formerly DoD 8570) certification (e.g., CISSP, CASP+, or other relevant cybersecurity/software certifications).
- Experience in assisting in developing, testing, and deploying software solutions in dynamic, operationally focused environments.
- Experience in supporting secure software development lifecycle processes aligned with DoD requirements and modern cybersecurity best practices.
- Basic experience with programming languages, software frameworks, system integration, and tools commonly used in cyber engineering.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in technical, team-oriented development environments while maintaining timelines and quality standards.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience supporting the integration of software solutions with cyber systems or operational environments.
Foundational understanding of secure coding principles, vulnerability assessments, or defensive cyber development techniques.
Familiarity with current frameworks and technologies used in cybersecurity solutions.
Strong ability to create clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with teams and stakeholders.
Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
