Description

SAIC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join their team in Quantico, VA. The Senior Systems Engineer will provide full-spectrum systems engineering support to the Marine Corps Systems Command's (MCSC) Fires Coordination Support Team (FCST), enabling effective fielding, integration, and sustainment of the Family of Laser Designator Rangefinders (FoLDRs). The primary focus will be on Next Generation Handheld Targeting System (NGHTS), with additional responsibilities for legacy rangefinder and designator systems.

The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties:
  • Apply SE lifecycle processes (requirements, tradeoffs, ICDs, verification) for NGHTS and legacy FoLDR systems
  • Ensure operational interface among FoLDR units, fire-control networks, JTAC tools, and MAGTF C2 systems
  • Define and execute performance and field trials for NGHTS-including imaging systems and weapon-class range/designation tests
  • Support regression and follow-on testing for PLRF, CLRF IC, and PLDR systems
  • Develop technical performance specs, ICDs, test procedures, ECPs, and technical data packages
  • Validate requirements with operational users and advise program management of enhancements
  • Provide in-field support during Operational Training Exercises (OTEs), fielding events, and NET; collect and translate user feedback into engineering solutions
  • Manage reliability, maintainability, and logistics engineering for all FoLDR systems
  • Coordinate with PM Fires, FCST leadership, MCSC engineers, contractor teams (e.g., Northrop Grumman for NGHTS), JTACs, and operational staff-ensuring alignment with Marine Corps targeting and fire coordination doctrine (e.g., MCWP 3 - 16)


Qualifications

Required Education:
  • Bachelor's degree and nine (9) years' experience; additional four (4) years' experience can be considered in lieu of degree.


Required Clearance:

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret security clearance; ship required.


Required Skills:
  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience supporting DoD/warfighting systems-ideally with electro-optical/laser targeting systems
  • Proficient in systems engineering methods (INCOSE, MIL - STD - 499, DOORS)
  • Able to author technical documentation (ECPs, ICDs, test plans) and lead engineering technical reviews
  • Experience in field testing, system integration, and forensic investigations


Desired Skills:
  • Familiarity with NGHTS performance specifications and features (e.g., celestial compass, GPS, imaging sensors)
  • Experience with FoLDR legacy systems (PLRF-25C, CLRF IC, PLDR)
  • Background supporting JTACs or fire support coordination personnel
  • Strong collaboration & communication skills


Required Certifications:
  • INCOSE ASEP/CSEP, PMP


Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
