Google Cloud Migrations SME (Lead Cloud Engineer)

Job Description

This is a full-time remote role for a Senior Google Cloud Architect. The role involves migrating applications (not just databases) to Google Cloud Platform, acting as the subject matter expert (SME) for Google Cloud Platform, designing and implementing Google Cloud Platform solutions, developing comprehensive solution architectures, and overseeing integration with existing systems and infrastructure.

Key responsibilities:

This is a very senior technical leadership role and you will be working in a very high-visibility, fast-paced project. You will be part of a team charged with migrating entire applications from an on-prem to a Google Cloud Platform environment. There may be some "life and shift" migrations and some may involve significant redesign to take advantage of cloud features. You will function as a lead and a SME on migrations to Google Cloud Platform.

Please do NOT apply if you don''t have 10+ years hands-on experience in cloud migrations and a minimum 6 years in Google Cloud Platform. This is a government contract that requires a ship or US Permanent Resident Status (US ).

Qualifications:

• Strong preference: Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect.

• 10+ years in cloud operations and migrations. At least 6 years in migrations to Google Cloud Platform.

• Other Google Cloud Platform certifications and prior experience in the consulting domain are a plus.

• Strong experience migrating to Google Cloud Platform from on-prem and from other cloud providers.

• Proven expertise in Cloud Architecture and developing scalable and secure Google Cloud Platform solutions.

• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure and Integration, including cloud-based and on-premises systems.

• Deep understanding of Cloud Architecture and ability to design enterprise-level frameworks.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Proven expertise in Cloud Architecture and developing scalable and secure Google Cloud Platform solutions using tools/techniques like Migration Center, Migrate to Virtual Machines (or Migrate for Compute Engine), Google Compute Engine (GCE), Database Migration Service (DMS), Storage Transfer Service / Transfer Appliance, Cloud Interconnect, Shared VPC, Cloud NAT & Cloud Router, Terraform / Google Cloud Provider, Deployment Manager, GitOps / Anthos Config Management, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) / Enterprise GKE, Compute Engine (GCE) Sole-Tenant Nodes, Cloud Run, Anthos / Google Distributed Cloud, etc.

   

What This Position Is Not:

• This position is not meant for pure database migrations to Google Cloud Platform. The entire application will be migrated to the cloud. The DB migration will be a part of it. So a DB admin with DB migration experience is not a good fit unless they have migrated all components and tiers many times over several years.

• A person with cloud support experience may not be a good fit unless they have actually completed redesigns or lift and shift of enterprise strength applications for several years.
