Database Consultant - Oracle DBA, Mango DB, Cassandra
Location: Cincinnati, OH
Work-Style: Hybrid Work Setting, 4 days/week in the office required.

Position Overview: You will support the client in person by being in the office for a minimum of 4 working days. There is a need for expertise in managing multiple database technologies, including MongoDB, Cassandra, IIAS, Mainframe DB2, and DB2 UDB database environments. You will provide technical leadership on operational management, ensuring database performance, reliability, and security for enterprise applications. This role requires effective troubleshooting skills and the ability to lead initiatives for database improvements.
Responsibilities:
You will work closely with key business stakeholders to support the following key activities:
Provide 24x7 production support for MongoDB, Cassandra, IIAS, Mainframe DB2, DB2 UDBacross on-premises and cloud (Azure, Google Cloud Platform) environments via rotational shifts and on-call duties.
Administer, monitor, and maintain multiple database technologies in production and non-production environments.
Implement and manage backup, recovery, tuning, and DR (Disaster Recovery) strategies.
Perform routine health checks, proactively identify performance bottlenecks, and optimize queries and database configurations.
Manage database security, user permissions, and compliance with organizational policies.
Coordinate and execute database patching, upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime.
Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support deployment activities and resolve database-related issues.
Monitor and resolve incidents, including root cause analysis and documentation of resolutions.
Automate routine operational tasks using scripts or management tools.
Document database procedures, configurations, and support processes for internal knowledge sharing.
Key Qualifications and Skillset for this Role:
6+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA, managing at least one database technology, including MongoDB, Cassandra, IIAS, and Mainframe DB2/DB2 UDB, across database environments.
Strong SQL scripting and database troubleshooting skills.
Ability to automate and optimize routine operational tasks using scripting (PowerShell, T-SQL, SQL, shell scripting)
In-depth knowledge of backup/recovery, high availability (clustering, AlwaysOn, DataGuard, etc.), and performance tuning for both platforms.
Experience with database monitoring tools - Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, Nagios, etc., and automation frameworks such as Ansible and Terraform.
Solid understanding of database security best practices.
Proven experience with patching, upgrading, and migrating databases.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operations setting.
Ability to support DB audit requirements and license management.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
