Position Summary

The Product Owner will work closely with Product Managers, Architects, Engineering Leads, and business stakeholders to maximize product value, prioritize work, and ensure successful delivery of strategic initiatives. This position plays a key role in supporting Caterpillar's multi-year Remote Service Transformation Program, helping to modernize how Caterpillar and its dealers interact with equipment remotely through diagnostics, troubleshooting, and software updates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own, maintain, and prioritize the Product Backlog based on business value.
  • Maximize product value by aligning development work with business priorities.
  • Monitor Feature Request Intake processes and ensure requests flow efficiently through established Agile workflows.
  • Manage Azure DevOps (AzDO) work items, ensuring proper tagging, tracking, and completion.
  • Create Azure DevOps scorecards, dashboards, and program metrics to communicate project progress and timelines.
  • Support quarterly Program Increment (PI) Planning activities by preparing workload reporting and backlog management.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Portfolio Architects, NPI Leads, and development teams to refine and prioritize work.
  • Break down epics and features into well-defined user stories suitable for sprint execution.
  • Participate in Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums (as needed), Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Communicate product vision, sprint priorities, and release objectives to Agile teams.
  • Review completed work at the end of each sprint and accept or reject deliverables.
  • Serve as the primary decision-maker regarding Product Backlog priorities.
  • Act as the voice of the customer and communicate project status to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Work closely with senior leadership, including Directors and Vice Presidents, to provide program updates.
  • Promote Agile best practices and serve as a champion for continuous process improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
    • Associate degree with 7+ years of relevant experience will be considered.
    • Master's degree with at least 1 year of relevant experience will also be considered.
  • 3–5 years of Agile-related professional experience.
  • Experience working as a Product Owner, Scrum Team member, Software Developer, or similar Agile role.
  • Strong experience with Azure DevOps (AzDO).
  • Experience managing Agile product backlogs and sprint planning activities.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and negotiate priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Power BI.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Agile management tools such as:
    • Azure DevOps
    • Jira
    • Rally
    • Azure Team Services
    • Mingle
    • VSTS
  • Experience working with onshore/offshore development teams.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Hands-on software development experience.
  • Experience supporting enterprise software products.
