Lead Web Content Administrator

Title: Lead Web Content Administrator (Web Platform / CMS + Site Search)
Location: Hybrid — Reston, VA area ( ~2-3x/month)
Type: 12-month Contract-to-Hire 
Compensation: $59/HR
 

What you’ll do

This role is the operational owner of a customer-facing web portal and focuses on the site platform experience (not writing net-new content). You’ll work as an individual contributor on a Scrum team (~12 people) and coordinate closely with development, communications, and product teams.

Key responsibilities include:

• Administer and manage a CMS and ensure strong content governance
• Own and improve site search (top priority), including search behavior and findability
• Manage and maintain navigation, taxonomy, and information architecture
• Monitor and set up web analytics (strong analytics background required; Google Analytics 360 preferred)
• Keep the site user-friendly, consistent, and aligned with business objectives
• Support efficient content delivery while maintaining quality, consistency, and governance
• Maintain the website through updates, upkeep, and continuous improvement
• Archive outdated content and recommend improvements based on insights and usage data
• Partner with cross-functional teams to keep the platform running smoothly

Must-have skills

• CMS administration experience + content governance
• Site search expertise (biggest priority)
• Experience with taxonomy, navigation, and information architecture
• Strong web analytics experience (ability to set up and use analytics tools)
• User experience optimization mindset
• Strong organization skills and comfort owning day-to-day site operations
• Ability to coordinate across technical and non-technical stakeholders

Nice-to-have

• Liferay experience (preferred; portal runs on Liferay)
• Experience conducting content audits
• HTML/CSS/JavaScript familiarity (helpful, not required)
