Lead Data Engineer - Graph Data Platforms
Position Summary
We are seeking a
Lead Data Engineer to design and build enterprise-scale data platforms that power provider, member, claims, and network analytics across the organization. This role will lead the development of cloud-native data solutions leveraging
Python, PySpark, AWS Glue, and Graph Database technologies to create a connected view of healthcare relationships, improve data quality, support AI initiatives, and drive operational efficiencies.
The ideal candidate combines deep data engineering expertise with healthcare domain knowledge and experience building graph-based solutions for provider networks, care management, fraud detection, and value-based care initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and architect scalable data platforms supporting claims, provider, member, pharmacy, and clinical data.
- Develop and optimize large-scale ETL/ELT solutions using Python, PySpark, AWS Glue, and AWS cloud services.
- Build and maintain graph database solutions (Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, or similar) to model complex healthcare relationships.
- Create provider, member, facility, and network knowledge graphs to support analytics and AI initiatives.
- Design entity resolution and data matching solutions to identify duplicate providers, network relationships, and referral patterns.
- Develop reusable, metadata-driven data ingestion frameworks and data quality controls.
- Implement data governance, lineage, and monitoring capabilities across enterprise data assets.
- Collaborate with business and technology leaders to translate healthcare use cases into scalable data solutions.
- Support AI and advanced analytics initiatives through graph-based data models and knowledge graph architectures.
- Mentor engineers and establish engineering best practices for performance, scalability, and maintainability.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of Data Engineering experience.
- Expert-level Python development experience.
- Senior-level expertise with PySpark and distributed data processing.
- Strong experience developing AWS Glue ETL pipelines.
- Deep understanding of data warehousing and data lake architectures.
- Experience with SQL and large-scale relational databases.
- Experience designing and implementing graph database solutions (Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, TigerGraph, or equivalent).
- Experience processing healthcare data including claims, provider, member, eligibility, pharmacy, or clinical data.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, master data management, and data quality principles.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare payer or managed care experience.
- Experience with provider data management and network hierarchy modeling.
- Knowledge of value-based care and population health analytics.
- Experience with knowledge graphs and AI-enabled data platforms.
- Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Airflow, Kafka, or DBT.
- Neo4j or graph database certifications.
- Experience building Graph RAG or AI knowledge graph solutions.
