API Test Engineer
Pittsburgh, PA | Lake Mary, FL - Hybrid, 4 days onsite

We are seeking an experienced API Test Engineer to support the development and enhancement of a complex, high-visibility data-processing platform. This role will focus on validating mission-critical system integrations and end-to-end data workflows through a combination of manual and automated testing. The ideal candidate has strong API testing experience, a passion for quality engineering, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and execute functional, integration, regression, and performance test cases.
Perform positive, negative, boundary, and error-handling testing for REST APIs and system integrations.
Develop and maintain automated test scripts, with a strong emphasis on Python-based automation.
Validate end-to-end workflows involving APIs, SFTP file transfers, database updates, and system-generated outputs.
Analyze data movement across multiple systems and ensure accuracy throughout the process.
Validate JSON request/response payloads, headers, and HTTP status codes.
Identify, document, and troubleshoot defects while collaborating with development teams to drive resolution.
Support continuous quality initiatives and help expand automation coverage over time.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of software quality engineering or testing experience (strong candidates with 3-4 years may be considered).
Hands-on experience with API testing and application integrations.
Experience creating and executing test cases independently.
Proficiency with Python scripting and SQL/database validation.
Strong understanding of HTTP methods (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE), status codes, and JSON request/response structures.
Experience validating end-to-end system workflows and data processing.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience building or maintaining automation frameworks.
