Software Integration Engineer (Healthcare - FHIR / MongoDB)

We are seeking a Healthcare Integration Engineer to design, build, and maintain our next-generation clinical data platform. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting scalable healthtech solutions, building FHIR-compliant APIs, and managing high-throughput clinical datasets. You will leverage Firely server tooling and SDKs alongside MongoDB to transform, store, and serve interoperable patient data across enterprise electronic health record (EHR) systems.

​Key Responsibilities & Core Technical Skills:

• ​API & Integration Development: Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable RESTful APIs adhering strictly to FHIR standards (US Core, R4/STU3).
• ​FHIR Server Management: Deploy, configure, and optimize Firely Server (formerly Vonk) and related Firely SDK tools to handle high-concurrency clinical data requests.
• ​Database Architecture: Schema design, optimization, and administration of MongoDB collections engineered to store complex, nested FHIR JSON documents.
• ​Data Pipeline & Transformation: Build ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest, map, and transform legacy clinical data formats (HL7 v2, C-CDA, X12) into standardized FHIR resources.
• ​Compliance & Security: Ensure all data persistence, transmission, and integration mechanisms strictly comply with HIPAA, GDPR, and SOC 2 security guidelines.
• ​Testing & Validation: Perform end-to-end integration testing, FHIR profile validation (using Firely Forge), and performance tuning for low-latency queries.
• ​FHIR: Deep working knowledge of HL7 FHIR resources, profiles, extensions, and RESTful interactions.
• ​Firely Ecosystem: Hands-on experience with Firely Server, Firely .NET/C# SDKs, or Firely Forge.
• ​Database: 3+ years of experience with MongoDB (query optimization, indexing, aggregation frameworks, document modeling).
• ​Backend Development: Proficiency in C# / .NET Core or Node.js/TypeScript for building backend services and custom plugins.
• ​Experience: 3+ years in healthcare software engineering, healthtech integration, or clinical informatics.
• ​Interoperability Standards: Familiarity with EHR integration (Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, Athenahealth) and healthcare data specs (SMART on FHIR, OAuth2/OIDC).

​Preferred Qualifications:

• ​HL7 FHIR Certification (HL7 International).
• ​Experience with cloud platforms (AWS DocumentDB / Azure Cosmos DB for MongoDB API).
• ​Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines for deployment.
