Location: Bellevue, WA

Rust Developer with 5+ years experience in Rust Development

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain high-performance systems using Rust.
• Demonstrate strong understanding of ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, and unsafe boundaries.
• Review, remove, and redesign unsafe Rust code to ensure memory safety and compliance with secure coding standards.
• Align development practices with the client's Secure Development Lifecycle (SDL).
• Implement and optimize XML parsing strategies (DOM vs. streaming).
• Contribute to security-reviewed and compliance-driven codebases.
• Create detailed technical documentation and design specifications.
• Collaborate effectively within open-source communities and cross-functional teams.
• Support accessibility-focused initiatives including MathML and screen reader compatibility.
• Maintain and enhance libraries with multi-language bindings (C/C++, Python, Java, WASM).

Essential Skills:

• Strong hands-on experience in Rust systems programming
• Deep understanding of ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, unsafe code handling
• Proven experience refactoring unsafe Rust code
• Strong knowledge of secure coding practices and SDL compliance
• Experience with XML parsing (DOM and streaming approaches)
• Background in security-sensitive or audited codebases
• Strong written communication and documentation skills
• Experience working in open-source development environments

Preferred Skills:

• Familiarity with accessibility technologies and MathML
• Exposure to screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, or Narrator
• Experience maintaining cross-language libraries (C/C++, Python, Java, WASM)
