Job Description
|
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support stabilization and troubleshooting of integrations between Workday and external benefits providers. The analyst will serve as a bridge between business stakeholders, Workday functional and technical teams, integration developers, and benefit provider teams.
The primary focus is to trace issues across multiple integrations and determine whether observed behavior is caused by source data, Workday configuration, benefit or retirement plan configuration, integration logic, transaction processing, or expected system behavior. This role requires a hands-on analyst who can investigate issues across system boundaries and drive them toward resolution.
Key Responsibilities
-
Analyze and troubleshoot Workday-to-benefits-provider integrations and the data exchanged between systems.
-
Trace employee lifecycle, benefits, and payroll-related transactions end-to-end, including hires, transfers, job changes, compensation changes, payroll events, terminations, and other transactions affecting benefit eligibility, enrollment, contributions, or reporting.
-
Investigate reported discrepancies and determine the root cause: data issue, Workday configuration, benefit plan configuration, integration logic or mapping, timing or processing issue, provider-side processing, or expected system behavior.
-
Review integration outputs, inbound and outbound files or messages, logs, reports, Workday transactions, and provider responses to identify where an issue originates.
-
Work with benefits and retirement subject matter experts to understand applicable business rules, expected results, and business impact.
-
Collaborate with Workday functional teams, developers, integration teams, benefit providers, vendors, and other stakeholders to validate findings and implement or recommend corrective actions.
-
Document root-cause analysis, findings, business rules, and recommended resolutions in a format that can be understood by both technical and business audiences.
-
Help distinguish true defects from situations in which systems are operating as configured but the resulting behavior, business rule, or data relationship was not previously understood.
-
Develop and maintain end-to-end data flow diagrams showing how key employee, payroll, retirement, and benefits transactions move through Workday integrations to external benefits providers.
Required Qualifications
-
Demonstrated experience as a Business Analyst supporting HCM ERP implementations, production stabilization, or complex system integrations.
-
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to follow data and transactions across multiple systems and organizations.
-
Experience analyzing integration data, mappings, transformation rules, logs, reports, or similar technical artifacts.
-
Ability to understand complex business processes and translate business questions into specific technical or functional investigations.
-
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
-
Ability to work independently, organize multiple issues, identify patterns, coordinate across multiple teams, and drive problems to resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
-
Workday experience, particularly with integrations, HCM, Benefits, Payroll, and employee lifecycle transactions.
-
Experience supporting integrations with benefits providers, retirement systems, pension administrators, insurance carriers, payroll-related vendors, or similar external partners.
-
Experience with retirement or pension benefit administration, including retirement benefit system configuration, plan eligibility rules, contribution processing, or related ERP benefit configuration.
-
Familiarity with APIs, web services, middleware, integration platforms, XML/JSON, flat-file integrations, or data transformation concepts.
-
Experience supporting Workday or another large ERP platform during implementation, post-go-live stabilization, or production operations.
Expected Deliverables
-
Root-cause analysis and resolution recommendations for reported integration issues.
-
Clear documentation of data flows, transaction behavior, system dependencies, and relevant business rules.
-
Issue tracking and status updates for assigned integration problems.
-
Validation of fixes and confirmation that corrected transactions produce the expected results across Workday and the applicable benefit provider.
-
Recommendations for configuration, integration, process, or data changes where appropriate.
-
Identification of recurring issues or patterns that may require broader configuration, integration, or process changes.
-
End-to-end data flow diagrams for the integrations and business transactions within scope.
