Position Summary

The Controls Engineer is an experienced role that is responsible for overseeing the design, installation, and maintenance of all manufacturing equipment in the facility. Supports the manufacture and assembly of new and existing Parker products. Identifies improved manufacturing techniques for testing new systems and methods for efficiency, and planning assembly layouts to optimize production, quality, cost, and safety. May be responsible for developing and deploying capital projects.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with engineering and production personnel, manages projects, troubleshoots technical issues, and implements improvements to equipment and the facility.
  • Directly supervises electrical technicians, maintenance associates, MRO buyers, and maintenance planners.
  • Coordinates and oversees all service contractors including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, roofing, plant construction, and janitorial services.
  • Responsible for facility security systems including access control and cameras.
  • Proficient in the design, operation, and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
  • Able to design, apply, and troubleshoot HMI and PLC programs for manufacturing systems and equipment using Rockwell Automation devices and software.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the building and grounds including electrical power distribution, HVAC systems, cooling towers, fire protection, alarm systems, compressed air systems, roofing, and waste management.
  • Responsible for the management and application of all environmental quality permits including wastewater discharge and stormwater.
  • Responsible for all waste stream policies and procedures including metals recycling, hazardous, and non-hazardous waste disposal.
  • Implements, improves, and maintains equipment and process parameter telemetry (IoT) systems.
  • Able to design electrical control schematics for manufacturing systems and equipment.
  • Proficient in the design and application of servo motors, actuators, and controllers as well as variable frequency motor drives.
  • Responsible for the plant wide computerized maintenance management systems and the Predictive/ Preventive Maintenance program.
  • Supervises the purchasing of all MRO buying for the facility including equipment parts, tooling, lubricants, and janitorial supplies.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and how to apply them in a manufacturing environment.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) in related Engineering field with 2-5 years of experience
  • U.S. citizen or permanent residency status required
  • Proficient/Working knowledge and ability to apply concepts of engineering for one solution line
  • Ability to apply a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem solving of moderate to difficult scope and complexity
  • Effectively apply continuous improvement methods to quality and manufacturing functions (e.g. pull systems, process mapping, JIT)
  • Proficient/Working knowledge of data structures and database programming
  • Ability to work effectively with CAD/CAM systems or other computer aided manufacturing systems, in addition to standard business application software and/ or specialized data analysis tools
  • Ability to use existing procedures to solve problems
  • Ability to read and understand moderate to complex engineering drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to research and analyze data effectively and draw valid conclusions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers
