Senior SAP PP/MRP Solution Architect

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly seasoned SAP PP Solution Architect / Solution Lead with 20+ years of SAP experience and a strong background in SAP PP/MRP implementation programs within manufacturing environments and proven implementation leadership.
The ideal candidate should have served as a Solution Lead / Architect on multiple SAP implementation or transformation programs, while also maintaining strong hands-on expertise in SAP ECC 6.0 PP, MRP, production planning and material availability.
The consultant will assess the existing SAP PP/MRP environment, identify root causes of material shortages and planning issues, and provide practical recommendations across SAP configuration, business processes and potential custom development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead assessment of the existing SAP ECC 6.0 PP/MRP planning and execution environment.
- Analyze material shortages and identify root causes related to MRP logic, supply lateness, inventory accuracy and master data.
- Review current production planning processes and identify gaps in planning and execution.
- Evaluate planned order scheduling and planned order firming practices.
- Assess the impact of planned order firming on requested dates, component availability and production commitments.
- Review MRP group configuration, ATP/availability checking and confirmation logic.
- Recommend short-term operational and long-term SAP solutions to reduce material shortages.
- Evaluate SAP standard functionality versus custom development and recommend the appropriate solution approach.
- Assess opportunities for BAPI-based automation of planning processes.
- Review shortage reports and validate calculations against SAP confirmation/committed-quantity logic.
- Work directly with business stakeholders, planners and technical teams to identify process and system issues.
- Provide a solution roadmap with recommended remediation options, effort estimates and implementation considerations.
- Provide architectural guidance based on experience from previous SAP PP/MRP implementation and transformation programs.
Required Technical Expertise
- 20+ years of overall SAP experience
- Extensive SAP PP / MRP experience in manufacturing
- Strong experience as an SAP PP Solution Architect / Solution Lead
- Proven experience leading multiple SAP implementation / transformation programs
- Strong hands-on SAP ECC 6.0 PP
- Advanced MRP configuration and troubleshooting
- MRP Groups and MRP 1–4 views
- Lead-time scheduling
- ATP / availability checking
- Full vs. Partial Confirmation Logic
- Component availability checks
- Planned Order Firming
- MRP group-level confirmation settings, including OPPR / OPPJ
- Strong working knowledge of MD04, MD11, MD12 and MDVP
- Experience evaluating SAP standard functionality vs. custom solutions
- Exposure to BAPI-based automation/development related to planning processes
- Strong understanding of manufacturing planning and production execution processes
