Summary

Job Description

The Senior Marketing Technology Manager is the dedicated owner of Cetera's MarTech stack, serving as the strategic and hands-on operator responsible for ensuring our marketing technology ecosystem drives measurable business outcomes. This role goes well beyond a pure platform SME-you will own the architecture, integration, governance, and innovation roadmap across Marketo, Adobe Experience Cloud, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and an expanding suite of AI-powered tools. This is a critical hire given growth and modernization currently underway with the Marketing technology solutions. You will be a key enabler of our marketing transformation, partnering closely with Demand Generation, Digital, IT, and Sales Operations to deliver sophisticated, personalized experiences at scale.

What You'll Do:

  • MarTech Stack Ownership
    • Serve as the primary owner and administrator of Marketo, Adobe Experience Cloud, and related integrations, ensuring platform health, governance, and continuous optimization.
    • Lead the roadmap for MarTech stack expansion, including evaluation and onboarding of AI-powered tools and emerging automation capabilities.
    • Maintain documentation of system architecture, integrations, data flows, and operational processes.
  • Marketing Automation & Email Journey Execution
    • Architect, build, and optimize end-to-end email marketing journeys and nurture programs within Marketo and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
    • Design and implement automated workflows that support lead lifecycle management, segmentation, scoring, and routing.
    • Partner with Demand Gen and Content teams to translate campaign strategies into scalable, personalized automation programs.
    • Own deliverability, compliance (CAN-SPAM/CASL), and list hygiene practices across all email platforms.
  • Salesforce & System Integration
    • Own and optimize the Marketo-Salesforce CRM integration, ensuring reliable data sync, field mapping accuracy, and bi-directional data integrity.
    • Collaborate with Sales Operations and IT to troubleshoot integration issues, implement enhancements, and support new use cases.
    • Define and enforce data governance standards across connected platforms.
  • AI Tool Adoption & Workflow Integration
    • Identify, evaluate, and implement AI-powered marketing tools that improve content personalization, campaign optimization, and operational efficiency.
    • Develop workflows and enablement resources to drive AI tool adoption across the marketing team.
    • Stay current on the rapidly evolving AI/MarTech landscape and bring forward-looking recommendations to marketing leadership.
  • Analytics, Reporting & Optimization
    • Define and track KPIs across the MarTech stack, delivering regular performance insights to marketing leadership.
    • Partner with Analytics to build dashboards that connect marketing technology performance to pipeline and revenue outcomes.
    • Lead ongoing A/B testing and experimentation programs to improve campaign performance and platform utilization.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership & Enablement
    • Act as the internal MarTech subject matter expert-training team members, advising on best practices, and supporting campaign execution teams.
    • Support the cetera.com modernization initiative with marketing technology requirements, tracking implementation, and platform alignment.
    • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and renewals for MarTech platforms in partnership with Procurement and Finance.
    • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing technology, marketing operations, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Marketo administration experience; Marketo Certified Expert (MCE) strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and optimizing a Marketo-Salesforce integration in a production environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of email marketing best practices, deliverability, and compliance (CAN-SPAM, CASL).
  • Experience building and managing marketing automation workflows, lead scoring models, and nurture programs.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with Demand Gen, Digital, IT, and Sales Operations teams.
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience using data to drive platform and campaign decisions.

What's Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) or comparable enterprise email/journey platform.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Experience Cloud products (AEM, Analytics, Target, Real-Time CDP).
  • Hands-on experience adopting and operationalizing AI-powered MarTech tools.
  • Background in financial services, fintech, or a highly regulated industry.
  • Experience supporting major website modernization or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Proficiency with HTML/CSS for email template development and troubleshooting.

Compensation:

The base salary range for this role in Dallas, TX and San Diego, CA is $119,000 - $160,000, plus a competitive performance-based bonus.
