Summary

The team is looking for a skilled and motivated Firmware Engineer that will be able to define and develop firmware platforms for current and future Apple products. The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge in embedded technologies and environments to coincide with firmware and OS capabilities.

Description

Genuine passion for innovation and product development with experience from inception through delivery to customers. The Firmware Engineer will be individually responsible for all things firmware related. Architect, design, develop, and maintain hardware/software systems for Apple products. The individual will also be responsible for shaping firmware features from definition to launch with cross-functional teams in a highly dynamic environment.

Minimum Qualifications

BS/MS in EE/CE/CS, or equivalent industry experience.

4+ years of embedded firmware development in RTOS environments.

Strong, demonstrable coding skills in C/C++ in production environments.

Design and implement firmware platform, including, device drivers, comms, middleware and application / state machine.

Experience with hard real-time systems and ARM architectures.

Experience with common serial communication protocols, such as SPI, I2C, or UART.

Preferred Qualifications

Basic understanding of USB protocol.

Experience with USB device and host software development is a plus.

Experience with motion/motor control (mechatronics, automation, surgical, drones, etc) or safety critical systems, and good understanding how these systems are architected.

Experience with motion or environmental sensing technology.

Experience with MATLAB and Simulink

Ability to optimize software for resource constrained embedded systems (e.g. power, throughput, memory/compute).

Experience throughout full product and SW development lifecycle; including defining goals and ensuring milestone delivery in a high cross-functional capacity.

Obsessively passionate and inquisitive, and seek to solve everyday problems in innovative ways.

Availability to travel domestically and internationally for development and on-site manufacturing support is also expected.
