Are you detail-oriented and passionate about ensuring great user experiences? Topstep is looking for a Junior Manual QA Engineer to join our quality team and help ensure our trading platform delivers reliable, high-quality experiences to our users. In this role, you'll test features across our web applications, identify bugs, and work closely with engineers and product teams to maintain quality standards.

You'll gain hands-on experience testing complex trading platform features, learning about financial technology, and developing your QA skills in a fast-paced environment. You'll execute test cases, perform exploratory testing, and contribute to improving our testing processes. This is an excellent opportunity to build a strong foundation in quality engineering.

This role is ideal for someone who is naturally curious, enjoys finding edge cases, and wants to grow a career in quality assurance. You'll work alongside experienced QA engineers and developers who will help you learn industry best practices and develop both technical and soft skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Execute manual test cases across web applications to validate functionality, usability, and quality.
  • Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases, usability issues, and potential bugs.
  • Document and report bugs clearly with detailed reproduction steps, screenshots, and expected vs actual behavior.
  • Collaborate with engineers and product managers to understand feature requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Verify bug fixes and participate in regression testing before releases.
  • Contribute to maintaining and improving test case documentation.
  • Test across different browsers, devices, and user scenarios to ensure consistent experiences.
  • Participate in daily standups and provide clear status updates on testing progress.
  • Learn and apply QA methodologies, testing techniques, and best practices.
  • Ask questions and seek feedback to continuously improve testing skills and product knowledge.

Required Qualifications
  • 0-2 years of experience in software quality assurance or related field (internships, bootcamps, or relevant coursework count).
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to identify inconsistencies and potential issues.
  • Excellent written communication skills for documenting bugs and test results.
  • Basic understanding of software development lifecycle and testing fundamentals.
  • Comfortable using web browsers, developer tools, and basic testing tools.
  • Ability to follow test plans and execute test cases systematically.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with curiosity about how things work.
  • Good collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, tools, and testing approaches.
  • Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple testing tasks with competing priorities.

Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with bug tracking tools (Jira, Linear, or similar).
  • Basic understanding of databases and SQL queries.
  • Exposure to API testing concepts or tools (Postman, Insomnia).
  • Experience testing financial applications, trading platforms, or fintech products.
  • Understanding of trading terminology, market data, or brokerage operations.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS and how to use browser developer tools.
  • Coursework or certification in software testing or quality assurance.
  • Experience with test management tools (Qase, TestRail, or similar).
  • Interest in learning test automation in the future.

New Hire Base Salary Range
  • $55,000-$80,000.
  • Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.
  • The compensation offered will take into account internal compensation structure and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
