Job Description:
Essentia Health is searching for a Medical Laboratory Technician for Sendouts to join our team at St. Mary\'s Medical Center in Duluth, MN. Hours will be day shift with the exception of afternoon/evenings on weekends and holiday rotations.
Education Qualifications:
Graduate of an associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician or meets Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines for the complexity of laboratory testing for alternative route.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support specimen processing, testing coordination, result handling, and other technically complex responsibilities within the Send Out Department.
- Perform and report laboratory tests of all complexity levels, as defined by CLIA.
- Perform testing on patients of all ages to assist with the routine screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries.
- Apply complex problem-solving skills to laboratory procedures and testing issues.
- Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) monitoring.
- Perform instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Process and prepare specimens for testing and referral.
- Perform phlebotomy as needed.
- Provide customer service to patients, healthcare providers, and other laboratory personnel.
Licensure/CertificationQualifications:
Certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician through the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent; within one year of hire
