Job Title: Oracle DBA
Location: Remote Work + Travel (Atlanta, GA location) OR Cincinnati, OH (Onsite / Hybrid)
Duration: Long-Term Contract
Rate: $40-$45/hr. on W2 ($50 on C2C)
Role Overview
There is a need for expertise in managing multiple database technologies including Oracle Database, SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra, IIAS, Informix & WIN, PostgreSQL, and Cosmos DB environments.
You will provide technical leadership on operational management, ensuring database performance, reliability, and security for enterprise applications. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to lead initiatives for continuous database improvements.
You will work closely with key business stakeholders to support the following activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 24x7 production support for Oracle Database, SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra, IIAS, Informix & WIN, PostgreSQL, and Cosmos DB across on-premises and cloud (Azure and Google Cloud Platform) environments through rotational shifts and on-call duties.
- Administer, monitor, and maintain multiple database technologies in both production and non-production environments.
- Implement and manage backup, recovery, performance tuning, and Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies.
- Perform routine health checks, proactively identify performance bottlenecks, and optimize queries and database configurations.
- Manage database security, user permissions, and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
- Coordinate and execute database patching, upgrades, and migrations with minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to support deployment activities and resolve database-related issues.
- Monitor and resolve incidents, including performing root cause analysis and documenting resolutions.
- Automate routine operational tasks using scripts or management tools.
- Document database procedures, configurations, and support processes for internal knowledge sharing.
Required Experience and Skills
- 8+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA managing at least one or more of the following database technologies:
Oracle Database, SQL Server, MongoDB, Cassandra, IIAS, Informix & WIN, PostgreSQL, and Cosmos DB, across database environments. - Strong SQL scripting and database troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to automate and optimize routine operational tasks using scripting technologies such as PowerShell, T-SQL, SQL, and shell scripting.
- In-depth knowledge of backup and recovery, high availability (clustering, AlwaysOn, Data Guard, etc.), and performance tuning.
- Experience with database monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Azure Monitor, and Nagios, and automation frameworks including Ansible and Terraform.
- Solid understanding of database security best practices.
- Proven experience in patching, upgrading, and migrating databases.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operations environment.
- Ability to support database audit requirements and license management.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
