Role Overview
An opportunity is available for a Digital Engineer to join a team focused on mission-enabling solutions for global security. This role involves the design, development, and testing of VHDL-based digital designs for software-defined radio firmware. The position requires collaboration within a multidisciplinary environment that includes Systems, Hardware, and Test engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, integrate, and test VHDL-based digital designs, with a focus on software-defined radio firmware code bases.
- Utilize FPGA programming development tools and environments.
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams, including Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, Hardware, and Integration & Test.
- Operate within waterfall or Agile software development environments.
- Analyze system concepts of operation, requirements, and design documents to resolve functional, performance, or timing issues.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of experience, or a Master of Science degree with 3+ years of experience.
Experience: Significant hands-on, current experience in the field of VHDL design and verification. Working knowledge of formal engineering development processes.
Skills: Candidate must have proficient written and communication skills and be able to work independently and within groups.
Preferred Qualifications
- DOD Secret Clearance preferred.
- Eight or more years of professional technical experience.
- Experience with VHDL design and OSVVM verification for FPGA firmware.
- Experience with AMD/Xilinx series including Zynq, Kintex, Ultrascale, or Versal family of devices.
- Experience with Communication Protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, and Ethernet.
- Proficiency with Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools: Vivado, Quartus, QuestaSim.
- Knowledgeable in FPGA physical constraints and achieving timing closure.
- Experience with the generation of Test benches and support of formal VHDL Verification.
- Experience with board or system-level debug using test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Experience translating systems requirements into programmable logic requirements, design documents, and test specifications.
- Hands-on experience with DoD communications systems.
