Summary

Do you thrive on building software and solving complex problems? Are you a developer who's interested in geospatial systems, helping local governments, and having meaningful ownership over the products you build?

Ruekert & Mielke, Inc. (R/M) is seeking a Software Developer to help build, improve, and support AssetAlly , our GIS-driven asset management platform used by municipal clients to manage infrastructure data, field workflows, work orders, dashboards, and long-term planning. If you are technically strong, curious, and self-directed, this role will allow you to build software at the intersection of GIS, asset management, and municipal infrastructure while collaborating with public works staff, GIS specialists, engineers, and project managers to deliver real solutions for municipal infrastructure challenges.

As a 100% employee-owned firm, your success is our success. We offer professional development, long-term growth opportunities, and the ability to make a visible impact in the communities we serve.

What You'll Gain:
  • A meaningful role building software used by municipalities to manage critical infrastructure
  • Opportunities at the intersection of GIS, asset management, civil engineering, and modern software development
  • A high-ownership environment where you can shape product direction, improve architecture, and deliver client-focused solutions

Goals & Responsibilities

This position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Develop, enhance, and maintain web applications and workflows for AssetAlly
  • Build reliable, maintainable software supporting municipal asset management, field data collection, and reporting
  • Translate client needs into practical technical solutions and troubleshoot complex application issues
  • Develop and maintain databases, improve workflows, and automate processes
  • Design and implement data ingestion and automation tools for analysts
  • Collaborate across teams on product improvement and client success
  • Participate in technical planning, testing, release coordination, and support
  • Stay current with web development, cloud infrastructure, and GIS best practices

Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following education, experience, and abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, GIS, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of software development experience, or equivalent demonstrated ability
  • Proficiency with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks and APIs
  • Experience with Esri technologies such as ArcGIS Pro, Online, or Enterprise is a plus, but is not required
  • Familiarity with technologies such as AWS, SQL/NoSQL databases, REST APIs, and Python scripting preferred
  • Understanding of GIS data structures, spatial analysis, and municipal infrastructure workflows is preferred
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, testable code and troubleshoot full-stack issues
  • Self-directed, organized, and an effective communicator capable of working across technical and non-technical teams
