Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Production Operations Engineer with strong expertise in IBM Z automation and production operations. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience migrating automation environments from CA OPS/MVS to IBM Tivoli System Automation for z/OS and strong REXX programming skills.

This role will focus on mainframe production operations, automation migration, system configuration, troubleshooting, and supporting highly automated IBM Z environments.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain production operations within an IBM Z mainframe environment.

• Perform and support migration from CA OPS/MVS to IBM Tivoli System Automation for z/OS.

• Develop, modify, and maintain REXX programs for mainframe automation and operational processes.

• Work with IBM System Automation for z/OS to automate and manage system resources and applications.

• Configure and maintain the System Automation Policy Database (PDB).

• Support z/OS system operations, including system startup, shutdown, configuration, and operational procedures.

• Work with TSO and ISPF for system administration, troubleshooting, and operational activities.

• Develop and maintain JCL for production processing and automation activities.

• Support NetView for z/OS and IBM System Automation environments.

• Troubleshoot automation, scheduling, system, and production issues.

• Participate in z/OS automation migration and implementation projects.

• Support fully automated system configurations and operational processes on IBM Z.

• Document technical procedures, automation configurations, migration activities, and operational processes.

• Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and mainframe teams to resolve production issues.

• Provide technical support and participate in operational improvements and automation initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a Mainframe Operations environment in an operational, service, consulting, or support role.

• Mandatory experience migrating CA OPS/MVS to IBM Tivoli System Automation for z/OS.

• Strong hands-on experience with REXX programming.

• Hands-on experience with TSO and ISPF.

• Strong JCL development and troubleshooting skills.

• Working knowledge of the System Automation Policy Database (PDB).

• Experience with z/OS Automation Migration projects.

• Experience with IBM System Automation for z/OS.

• Experience with NetView for z/OS.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong troubleshooting and production support experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of IBM Z software and technologies.

• Experience with z/OS system operations, configuration, startup, and shutdown.

• Knowledge of SMP/E.

• Knowledge of competing mainframe automation products.

• Experience implementing fully automated system configurations on IBM Z.

• Experience supporting large-scale mainframe production environments.
