Job Title: Sr. Java backend /Google Cloud Platform Developer ;
Location: Columbus, OH ;
Duration: Long term Contract
Mode of Work: Onsite;
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, product owners, and business stakeholders to create enterprise API and event-driven integration solutions.
- Develop software in an Agile environment leveraging DevOps practices, automated testing, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Design and implement secure, scalable, and resilient microservices deployed on Google Cloud Platform.
- Build and maintain event-driven systems utilizing Kafka and asynchronous messaging patterns.
- Integrate applications with MongoDB Atlas and other enterprise data platforms.
- Develop automated testing strategies including unit, integration, contract, and performance testing.
- Implement observability practices including centralized logging, monitoring, tracing, and alerting.
- Maintain and evolve existing enterprise integration assets and cloud-hosted services.
- Partner with platform engineering and infrastructure teams to continuously improve deployment automation, cloud operations, security, and reliability.
- Serve as a technical mentor and provide guidance on application architecture, coding standards, and cloud-native best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Work Experience / Skills Required
- 7+ years of software development experience building enterprise applications and APIs.
- 5+ years of Java development experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Maven, and Gradle.
- Experience building and deploying cloud-native applications on Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform).
- Experience with GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine), Kubernetes, Docker containers, and microservices architectures.
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and event-driven integrations.
- Experience with Apache Kafka or managed Kafka platforms such as Confluent Cloud.
- Experience with MongoDB Atlas and NoSQL database design principles.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent.
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or similar technologies.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, resiliency patterns, scalability, and performance optimization.
- Experience working within Agile and DevOps delivery models.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate across engineering, architecture, and business teams.

Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, Splunk, or Datadog.
Experience developing financial services or high-volume transaction processing systems.
Experience with security best practices including OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, and Zero Trust architectures.
