System Admin VMware Storage Infra Job Description
Location - Des Moines, Iowa - Onsite
Responsibilities
Install, configure, and manage Windows and Linux servers (physical & virtual) Perform system builds, patching, upgrades, vulnerability management, and lifecycle management Manage Active Directory / LDAP and implement identity & access controls Monitor server performance, availability, and capacity metrics
Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot VMware environments (ESXi hosts, clusters, VMs) Perform VM provisioning, cloning, and migrations (vMotion, Storage vMotion) Manage VMware clusters (HA, DRS, resource pools) Monitor and optimize virtualization performance and availability
Support and maintain enterprise storage platforms (SAN/NAS/Object storage, e.g., PowerFlex) Perform LUN provisioning, zoning, masking, and volume management Manage storage capacity, upgrades, replication, snapshots, and performance tuning Identify and resolve storage space constraints and performance issues
Configure and manage enterprise backup solutions (Dell PowerProtect preferred) Implement secure and air-gapped backup strategies Perform backup monitoring, restore validation, and compliance checks Execute VM/file-level restores, DR testing, failover, and failback operations Maintain disaster recovery strategies and resiliency planning
Administer servers, workstations, and network-connected systems Support endpoint and security tools (Defender, CrowdStrike) Implement RBAC, security controls, encryption, and compliance requirements
Support enterprise applications (RightFax, Kofax, OpenText) Assist with platform upgrades, integrations, and performance tuning Collaborate with application teams for system stability and availability
Support data center operations including migrations, decommissioning, and relocations Assist in EOL transitions, rack decommissioning, and secure system movement Participate in migration planning and execution activities
Monitor infrastructure health across compute, storage, virtualization, and applications Troubleshoot multi-layer issues (VMware, storage latency, connectivity, application failures) Provide L2/L3 support, incident resolution, and root cause analysis
Perform patching, upgrades, performance tuning, and lifecycle management Maintain infrastructure documentation, SOPs, and runbooks Handle capacity planning and forecasting
Support ITSM processes (incident, problem, change, release management) Ensure CMDB is updated and aligned with infrastructure and cloud environments
Develop automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) Improve provisioning efficiency and integrate tools using APIs
Collaborate with infrastructure, security, cloud, and service delivery teams Ensure system availability, performance, and service continuity

Skills & Qualifications
Strong VMware administration experience (ESXi, vCenter, clusters, HA, DRS) Hands-on experience with enterprise storage systems (PowerFlex, EMC, NetApp, etc.) Strong knowledge of SAN/NAS, RAID, iSCSI, Fibre Channel
Experience with enterprise backup platforms (Dell PowerProtect preferred) Knowledge of backup compliance, air-gapped backups, and disaster recovery testing
Proficiency in Windows and Linux server administration Experience managing Active Directory / LDAP and access controls
Experience with endpoint/security tools (Defender, CrowdStrike) Strong understanding of infrastructure security and compliance practices
Ability to support enterprise applications (RightFax, Kofax, OpenText) Experience with application integrations and platform support
Strong troubleshooting skills across compute, virtualization, storage, and applications Ability to perform root cause analysis and documentation
Experience with ITSM tools/processes (incident, change, problem management) Familiarity with monitoring and infrastructure management tools
Scripting and automation experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python, REST APIs) Exposure to cloud and hybrid environments (AWS/Azure is a plus)
