Description: Job Title: Senior Electrical Design Engineer Duration: 6+ Months (possible extension or perm) Location: West Palm Beach, FL Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and testing of advanced subsea/undersea vehicles, including ROVs, AUVs, and manned submersibles. This role involves end-to-end ownership of electrical systems across the product lifecycle-research, design, development, documentation, troubleshooting, and testing for complex, mission-critical defense systems.
You will contribute to the electrical architecture, component design, and system integration of cutting-edge underwater platforms. The role offers a mix of hands-on lab/testing work, electrical analysis, and cross-disciplinary collaboration with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams.
Responsibilities: - Research, design, develop, and test electrical components, systems, power distribution, and control architectures for subsea vehicles.
- Develop wiring diagrams, schematics, electrical layouts, and system architectures.
- Support the full lifecycle-from concept development through production, integration, verification, validation, and field testing.
- Perform detailed electrical analysis, component selection, load analysis, and system-level integration.
- Troubleshoot failures across distributed I/O systems, RF systems, power systems, fiber optic networks, and remote test equipment.
- Support environmental, underwater, and pressure-related testing of electrical systems.
- Generate technical documentation, test procedures, work instructions, and design reports.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams during integration and sea-trial readiness evaluations.
- Ensure compliance with defense industry standards, safety guidelines, and documentation requirements.
Required Qualifications & Skills - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in electronic/electrical design for complex systems.
- Strong experience with electrical schematic design, PCB/electronic system development, or system-level electrical architecture.
- Hands-on test, troubleshooting, and lab experience.
- Experience with distributed I/O, power distribution, RF systems, fiber optics, or embedded control systems.
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Familiarity with defense, underwater, marine, or ruggedized system environments (preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
