POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced OpenSearch Consultant to design, implement, and optimize enterprise search and analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in OpenSearch (or Elasticsearch) along with strong scripting and development skills in Python and .NET. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams to build robust data pipelines, RESTful APIs, and high-performance search architectures that drive actionable business insights.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design, deploy, and manage OpenSearch clusters in production environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
• Develop and maintain data ingestion pipelines using Python scripts and automation tooling to transform, enrich, and index data from diverse sources.
• Build and optimize RESTful APIs for search and analytics services, integrating with .NET-based applications and microservices.
• Create and tune index mappings, analyzers, and query templates to deliver fast, relevant search results at scale.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and performance-tuning strategies for OpenSearch infrastructure using dashboards and logging frameworks.
• Write and maintain shell and Python scripts for cluster management, backup/recovery, and automated deployment workflows.
• Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to integrate OpenSearch into CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native architectures (AWS preferred).
• Provide technical guidance and documentation for development teams on best practices for search and data indexing.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to cluster health, query performance, and data consistency.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 5+ years of hands-on experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch, including cluster administration, index lifecycle management, and query optimization.
• Strong proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and data pipeline development.
• Experience with shell scripting (Bash) for system administration and operational tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and consume RESTful APIs in enterprise environments.
• Familiarity with .NET (C#) development for API integration and backend services.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems, data replication, and sharding strategies.
• Experience working with JSON, YAML, and structured/unstructured data formats.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• AWS experience, particularly with Amazon OpenSearch Service, IAM, VPC, and CloudWatch.
• Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of log analytics platforms (Logstash, Fluentd, Beats) and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus).
• Experience with .NET Core / ASP.NET Web API for building microservices.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and version control systems (Git).
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Elastic Certified Engineer, or equivalent.
