Senior MongoDB Engineer

• Architect, deploy, and manage MongoDB Replica Sets and Sharded Clusters for healthcare workloads
• Design secure data models for clinical, claims, and patient-centric applications
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery for mission-critical systems
• Implement and maintain HIPAA-aligned security controls:
  • Encryption at rest and in transit
  • Role-based access control (RBAC)
  • Auditing and logging
• Perform query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning for high-volume transactional data
• Manage backup, restore, and point-in-time recovery with compliance requirements
• Monitor database health, capacity, and SLAs using enterprise monitoring tools
• Lead MongoDB upgrades, patching, and vulnerability remediation
• Support data governance, retention, and archival policies
• Collaborate with application, DevOps, security, and compliance teams
• Participate in incident response, root cause analysis, and audits
• Mentor junior engineers and define database best practices

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB (v4.x+) in production
• Proven experience supporting regulated / healthcare environments
• Deep understanding of:
  • MongoDB replication, sharding, and write concerns
  • Aggregation framework and indexing strategies
• Experience handling PHI-sensitive data
• Strong Linux/Unix skills
• Scripting experience (Python / Shell)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS / Azure / Google Cloud Platform)
• Familiarity with MongoDB Atlas / Ops Manager
• Experience with disaster recovery testing and audit support

Compliance & Security (Critical)

• Hands-on experience with HIPAA compliance requirements
• Understanding of HITRUST, SOC 2, GDPR (as applicable)
• Experience implementing audit trails, access reviews, and least-privilege models
• Knowledge of data retention and legal hold practices
