Summary

Lead Full Stack Engineer - Enterprise Platform Modernization (Cloud)
Stamford, CT (Remote with some travel)
Direct Hire | Competitive Salary + Bonus + Full Benefits

Overview

We are a global manufacturer undertaking a major modernization of a mission-critical enterprise platform that supports finance, sales, manufacturing, and supply chain operations.

This role will begin as a hands-on technical leader focused on rebuilding a legacy system into a modern, cloud-based platform, and evolve into the long-term technical owner of the system.

You will play a key role in transforming a tightly coupled legacy application into a scalable, maintainable architecture leveraging modern technologies including Node.js, TypeScript, React, SQL Server, and Microsoft Azure.

This is a backend-leaning full stack role requiring strong system design expertise, data modeling experience, and the ability to translate complex business processes into robust technical solutions.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the modernization of a legacy enterprise platform into a cloud-based architecture on Azure
  • Design and build scalable backend services, APIs, and integrations using Node.js and TypeScript
  • Contribute to frontend development using React where needed
  • Define and implement system architecture (modular monolith or microservices) aligned with business needs
  • Work closely with consulting partners during the initial rebuild phase and drive knowledge transfer to internal teams
  • Design data models and optimize performance across SQL Server and related data systems
  • Build and maintain integrations across enterprise systems (ERP, finance, supply chain, manufacturing)
  • Ensure system reliability, scalability, and data integrity across critical workflows
  • Mentor and lead internal engineering team members as the platform evolves
  • Transition into long-term ownership of the platform, including architecture, performance, and roadmap

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of full stack development experience with a strong backend focus
  • Deep experience with Node.js and TypeScript in building production-grade applications
  • Strong experience designing and building APIs and backend services in enterprise environments
  • Experience working with relational databases (SQL Server preferred) and complex data models
  • Experience modernizing or rebuilding legacy systems into scalable architectures
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS/Google Cloud Platform acceptable)
  • Strong understanding of system design, performance optimization, and data integrity
  • Experience working across the full stack, including frontend frameworks such as React
  • Proven ability to operate as a hands-on technical leader (player-coach)

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in manufacturing, supply chain, inventory management, or finance systems
  • Exposure to ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar)
  • Experience with enterprise integrations (APIs, messaging systems, ETL pipelines)
  • Familiarity with event-driven architecture or distributed systems
  • Experience working alongside consulting firms or external delivery teams

What Makes This Role Unique
  • Opportunity to modernize and ultimately own a mission-critical enterprise platform
  • High visibility role with direct impact across multiple business functions
  • Blend of hands-on engineering, architecture, and leadership
  • Long-term ownership and influence over platform direction and technology decisions

Who You Are

You are a strong engineer who understands that great systems are built not just on code, but on a deep understanding of how businesses operate. You're comfortable navigating both technical challenges and real-world operational complexity, and you enjoy building scalable systems that support critical business processes.

Bottom Line

This is not just a full stack role-it's an opportunity to lead the transformation of a core enterprise system and become the long-term technical owner of a platform that drives the business.
