We are looking for a hands-on Senior Full Stack .NET Developer to maintain and enhance business-critical applications while helping design and build the next generation of our software platform.

Our technology environment includes VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET, .NET Framework, Microsoft SQL Server, Windows applications, SOAP and REST APIs, JavaScript, Telerik controls, Crystal Reports and Aspose. New applications and modernization initiatives will use current, supported Microsoft technologies, including modern .NET and ASP.NET Core.

This is a fully remote position. Candidates must reside in California or Hawaii. Very infrequent travel to the corporate office in Sacramento, California may be required for company or team meetings.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Help strengthen and modernize business-critical systems while building new applications and services with modern .NET and ASP.NET Core.

With initial business requirements and technical direction in place, the Senior Full Stack Developer will collaborate with the team to clarify technical details and explore the existing codebase to identify dependencies, risks and implementation considerations. The developer will turn those findings into a technical specification and solution design, incorporate team feedback and lead the solution through development, testing, deployment, documentation and ongoing support.

This is a hands-on role, with opportunities to coordinate portions of the work across the team when timelines and available resources allow. The role also includes providing technical guidance, sharing knowledge and mentoring other developers.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Maintain, enhance and troubleshoot business-critical web and Windows applications built with C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET and .NET Framework 4.8.1.
• Create comprehensive technical specifications and solution designs based on initial business requirements, technical direction, codebase research and team input.
• Build new applications, services and Web APIs using modern .NET and ASP.NET Core technologies.
• Develop and enhance responsive, user-friendly interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, AJAX and third-party UI components such as Telerik.
• Develop and optimize SQL Server solutions, including complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, database objects, data integrations and performance improvements.
• Develop and maintain SOAP web service and REST API integrations.
• Create and maintain reports using Crystal Reports.
• Develop and maintain document-processing solutions using Aspose.
• Develop and execute manual and automated test cases, as appropriate, to validate functionality, integrations, data accuracy, performance and regression impacts before release.
• Recommend practical approaches to application modernization, refactoring, security, reliability, performance and maintainability.
• Collaborate with development teammates to investigate and resolve escalated application, database, reporting, integration and performance issues. Occasional coverage may also be required for teammates who typically handle development support.
• Communicate technical options, risks, dependencies and tradeoffs clearly within the project and development team. 
• Write secure, readable, testable and maintainable code supported by practical technical documentation.
• Perform code reviews and contribute to consistent development standards and practices.
• Provide technical guidance, share knowledge and mentor other developers.
• Manage source code and development workflows using GitHub.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, a related field or equivalent professional experience.
• Seven or more years of professional software development experience or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
• Strong development experience with VB.NET and/or C#, with the ability to work effectively in an environment that uses both languages.
• Strong experience with ASP.NET and .NET Framework and/or modern .NET and ASP.NET Core, with the ability and willingness to work across both established and modern .NET environments.
• Strong experience designing, developing and consuming Web APIs using .NET.
• Experience integrating .NET applications with third-party systems and services using REST APIs, SOAP services, file-based exchanges or other integration methods.
• Strong experience with Entity Framework and/or Entity Framework Core.
• Advanced Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL skills, including complex queries, stored procedures, database objects, data integrations and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience applying secure coding practices to enterprise applications.
• Strong experience developing browser-based user interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JSON and AJAX.
• Experience working with third-party UI and document-processing components such as Telerik and Aspose.
• Proven ability to analyze complex codebases, design practical technical solutions and troubleshoot issues across the user interface, application, integration and database layers.
• Experience with software testing, source control, code reviews and collaborative development practices.
• Experience supporting applications in Microsoft Windows and Windows Server environments.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, take ownership of assigned solutions and contribute effectively within a small development team.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide technical guidance and mentor other developers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience modernizing or migrating .NET Framework applications to modern .NET technologies.
• Experience implementing and supporting authentication and authorization for .NET applications, including multifactor authentication, single sign-on and integration with identity and access solutions such as Microsoft Entra ID, Cloudflare Access or similar platforms.
• Experience creating, maintaining and troubleshooting Crystal Reports.
• Experience with third-party application components.
• Experience developing and maintaining automated tests.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, release processes and deployment automation.
• Familiarity with Axosoft, Astera Centerprise, SAP BusinessObjects, Microsoft 365 or similar tools and platforms.
• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum development practices.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The annual salary range for this full-time position is $145,000 to $160,000, with placement within the range based on relevant experience and technical qualifications.
