Position Summary
Seeking an experienced Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Microsoft Purview Specialist to support enterprise data protection, compliance, and information governance initiatives. This role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing DLP controls, data classification strategies, and Microsoft Purview solutions to protect sensitive information across cloud, endpoint, collaboration, and email environments. The successful candidate will work closely with cybersecurity, compliance, legal, and business teams to ensure adherence to organizational policies and regulatory requirements while strengthening the overall security posture.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and administer Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies across endpoints, cloud applications, and messaging platforms.
  • Configure and manage Microsoft Purview capabilities, including:
    • Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
    • Information Protection
    • Sensitivity Labels
    • Retention Policies
    • Insider Risk Management
    • eDiscovery
  • Develop and maintain enterprise data classification, labeling, and retention strategies.
  • Monitor, investigate, and remediate DLP alerts, incidents, and policy violations.
  • Integrate and optimize DLP controls across Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Conduct data discovery, data mapping, and risk assessments to identify and protect sensitive information.
  • Support compliance and regulatory initiatives aligned with industry standards and organizational requirements.
  • Develop dashboards, metrics, and reporting to measure data protection effectiveness and compliance posture.
  • Partner with security and infrastructure teams to align DLP controls with Zero Trust security principles.
  • Conduct end-user awareness and training related to data protection, information governance, and security best practices.
  • Perform ongoing policy tuning and optimization to reduce false positives and improve detection accuracy.
  • Support audit readiness activities, compliance assessments, and remediation efforts.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, standards, and governance processes.
Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience implementing and managing enterprise Data Loss Prevention (DLP) programs.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview and the Microsoft 365 Security and Compliance ecosystem.
  • Strong knowledge of data classification, labeling, records management, and retention policies.
  • Experience with DLP incident investigation, remediation, and policy enforcement.
  • Understanding of cloud security, SaaS platforms, and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Familiarity with compliance and security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and related governance standards.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across technical, compliance, legal, and business teams.
Preferred Certifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Information Protection Administrator Associate (SC-400)
  • Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900)
  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
  • Additional Microsoft Security, Compliance, Governance, or Cloud certifications preferred
