About the Position

The Senior Systems Engineer will work directly with the Systems Engineering Manager, providing technical leadership and expertise across complex space systems programs. This role will focus on requirements development, system-level architecture, integration, and verification activities for spacecraft and supporting ground systems. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to ensure mission success while supporting NASA and other government customers.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and contribute to systems engineering activities for spacecraft and mission architectures, ensuring requirements are captured, traced, and validated across the full lifecycle.
  • Support concept development, mission design, and performance analysis for spacecraft systems
  • Develop, manage, and maintain system requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and verification & validation (V&V) plans.
  • Collaborate with guidance, navigation & control (GN&C), avionics, structures, propulsion, and other subsystem teams to ensure seamless integration of vehicle and ground systems.
  • Perform system-level trade studies, risk assessments, and analyses to support design decisions and mission assurance.
  • Contribute to the development and use of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo and other SEI tools to support design and analysis.
  • Support proposal development, technical reviews (PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR), and customer-facing activities.
  • Partner with NASA and other government agencies to ensure designs meet mission, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to resolve complex spacecraft design and integration challenges.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in space-based systems engineering, preferably supporting NASA or other U.S. government programs.
  • Proven expertise in requirements development, documentation, and management. Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama, etc).
  • Experience with MBSE practices and tools (e.g., Cameo, MagicDraw, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of spacecraft integration, verification, and validation processes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams in the design and delivery of complex space systems.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Background supporting proposal and business development efforts, including technical content creation and customer interaction.
  • Knowledge of NASA, DoD, or other U.S. government aerospace standards and certification processes.
