ABOUT THE CLIENT
A growing airport food & beverage operator with a new concept opening at Dulles International Airport (Sterling, VA). The operation projects $6–8M in annual sales and is part of a dynamic, hospitality-first portfolio. This is a new opening — the Executive Chef will be a founding kitchen leader building the team and culture from the ground up. Strong growth opportunities exist for top performers.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Executive Chef leads all kitchen operations for an upscale casual dining concept in a high-volume airport environment. This person sets culinary standards, drives financial performance, develops staff, and collaborates with the Director of Culinary on menu development. The client wants an A-grade corporate restaurant background — systems-oriented, procedures-driven, and hospitality-focused. Not a fit for independent operators or former owners.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead kitchen operations and set high standards in food preparation, production, and presentation
• Supervise and delegate prep tasks across BOH and coordinate with FOH for smooth service
• Drive financial performance through inventory management and strategic labor scheduling
• Collaborate with Director of Culinary on menu development, creativity, and cost-effectiveness
• Conduct ongoing kitchen staff training to maintain consistency and food quality standards
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards; coordinate corrective actions
• Foster a positive, team-oriented kitchen culture with open communication
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite; comfortable with systems and digital reporting
IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE
Experience: | 5+ years as Executive Chef in high-volume restaurant operations |
Background: | Corporate restaurant concepts preferred — systems and procedures driven |
Cuisine: | Strong conceptual understanding of American cuisine and culinary technique |
Financials: | Proven track record managing food cost, labor cost, and inventory control |
Leadership: | Strong team builder with focus on staff development and performance standards |
Culture Fit: | High charisma, energy, family/hospitality mindset, hungry to grow |
Tech: | Proficient in Microsoft Suite; comfortable with kitchen management systems |
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
• Base salary: $75,000–$85,000 DOE
• 15% performance bonus
