Senior Java Engineer – Big Data, API Development & Performance Optimization
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Engineer with 8+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise Java development, API design, large-scale data processing, and database performance optimization. The ideal candidate must have strong expertise in Core Java, multithreading, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, REST API development, relational databases, and SQL optimization. The candidate should be capable of understanding complex business and technical requirements, designing efficient solutions, developing scalable applications, and troubleshooting performance issues across APIs, databases, and Unix environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Design clean, efficient, and scalable REST APIs with well-defined interfaces and integration patterns.
- Understand business and technical requirements and identify the most effective technical solutions before implementation.
- Develop high-performance Java applications using multithreading, concurrency, and JVM/process tuning.
- Build applications capable of processing large datasets, files, and complex data workloads.
- Design and optimize SQL queries to efficiently retrieve and process large volumes of data from relational databases.
- Analyze API and database performance and implement solutions to minimize latency and improve data retrieval efficiency.
- Develop and maintain batch processing applications using Spring Batch.
- Work with messaging technologies such as Apache Kafka and/or MQTT for enterprise application integrations.
- Troubleshoot application, API, database, and data-processing issues in Unix/Linux environments.
- Write clean, reusable, maintainable code following object-oriented design principles and established design patterns.
- Implement automated testing, debugging, code reviews, and pre-release verification.
- Take ownership of solutions from requirements analysis through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
Required Technical Skills
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in Java development.
- Strong expertise in Core Java, Multithreading, Concurrency, and JVM/Java process tuning.
- Strong experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Spring Batch.
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, and optimizing REST APIs.
- Strong understanding of API interfaces, JSON, XML, message queues, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Experience handling large datasets and working in Big Data environments (terabytes of data).
- Strong knowledge of relational databases (RDBMS), database design, SQL queries, and query optimization.
- Ability to write complex SQL queries from scratch and troubleshoot database performance issues.
- Experience with Apache Kafka and/or MQTT messaging technologies.
- Hands-on experience working in Unix/Linux environments, including application troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design (OOD), design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
- Experience with automated testing, reusable code components, and production-quality development.
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and technical troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Skills
- Python programming experience.
- Exposure to Hadoop and Apache Spark.
- Experience with Docker and Jenkins.
