Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on, execution-first Network Engineer to help close a major networking backlog, stabilize a newly built Fortinet environment, and complete critical site migrations-most notably bringing our HQ onto the new network.
This is not a break/fix or ticket-driven support role. The environment was built quickly and now needs assessment, standardization, cleanup, and completion across remaining sites.
The team needs someone who can own work immediately with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess the network environment stood up over the past year and quickly understand what has been implemented
Identify gaps, inconsistencies, or incomplete configurations across the Fortinet stack
Drive cleanup and standardization to improve stability, security, and maintainability
Execute hands-on engineering work to move the network rollout forward (not -advisory-only-)
Finish partially completed network components and deployment efforts across sites
Improve configuration consistency, documentation, and operational readiness
Lead or heavily support site migrations from legacy network infrastructure to the standard Fortinet environment
Own -rip and replace without breaking anything- cutovers-focused on minimal disruption and strong change discipline
Prioritize onboarding remaining critical locations-especially NYC HQ, a current blocker
Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize Fortinet technologies across: Firewalls; Switching; Wireless (APs); Fortinet NAC (required); Monitoring and related tooling
Work with minimal direction: get access, assess quickly, prioritize effectively, and execute
Provide clear technical communication on progress, risks, and dependencies.
