Data Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Chicago, IL that is seeking a Data Engineer for a hybrid role - 3 days onsite. We are seeking a Data Engineer to support the design, development, and evolution of enterprise data platforms that enable reporting, advanced analytics, and data science initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field
* 3+ years of hands-on experience building and supporting production data solutions
* Practical experience with the Databricks ecosystem
* Proven ability to design and implement dependable, scalable data pipelines
* Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
* Strong knowledge of Databricks (Lakehouse, Delta Lake, Spark clusters, Databricks SQL, Unity Catalog, Workflows)
* Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Apache Spark
* Experience developing reusable, metadata-driven ingestion frameworks (Python/Scala)
* Familiarity with cloud data platforms (object storage, data catalogs, batch/streaming/CDC processing)
* Experience with data modeling, schema design, and performance optimization
* Understanding of CI/CD, version control, automated testing, monitoring, and alerting
* Experience partnering with AI/BI teams to deliver high-quality data products
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:
* Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining data pipelines within an Azure Databricks ecosystem
* Practical experience connecting Azure Databricks with tools such as Azure DevOps, Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2) or Blob Storage, Azure Key Vault, and Azure Data Factory
* Working knowledge of enterprise data modeling concepts and tools (e.g., ERwin), with the ability to translate logical and physical models into scalable analytical or lakehouse solutions
* Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices for provisioning and managing cloud resources
* Experience handling confidential or regulated data in compliance-driven environments
* Experience contributing to projects delivered using Agile methodologies

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
