Position SummaryThe HR Project Manager leads the planning, execution, and delivery of strategic human resources initiatives across a large, complex, multi-billion-dollar retail organization. This role partners with HR leadership, business stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to manage enterprise-wide HR projects that improve workforce effectiveness, operational efficiency, and employee experience.
The ideal candidate brings strong project management discipline, deep understanding of HR functions, and experience navigating large, fast-paced retail environments with diverse employee populations.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Project Delivery- Lead end-to-end execution of enterprise HR projects, including workforce transformation, HRIS implementations, talent initiatives, and organizational design efforts.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and resource allocations.
- Align project objectives with corporate strategy, retail operations, and HR priorities.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration- Partner with HR Centers of Excellence (Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, L&D, Employee Relations, HRIS, etc.) to deliver integrated solutions.
- Coordinate with IT, Finance, Legal, Operations, and external vendors to ensure project success.
- Facilitate steering committees, working sessions, and executive updates.
Process Improvement & Change Management- Drive process optimization and standardization across HR functions.
- Lead change management strategies, including communications, training, and adoption plans.
- Ensure smooth transitions during organizational or system changes.
Data, Reporting & Governance- Establish project metrics, KPIs, and success criteria.
- Track and report on project status, budgets, and outcomes to senior leadership.
- Maintain governance frameworks, documentation, and compliance with company policies.
Vendor & Budget Management- Manage third-party consultants and vendors supporting HR initiatives.
- Track project expenses and ensure adherence to approved budgets.
- Support RFPs, contract negotiations, and vendor performance reviews.
QualificationsEducation & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Master's degree or MBA preferred.
- 5-10+ years of project management experience, with at least 3-5 years in HR, retail, or large enterprise environments.
- Experience managing complex, cross-functional projects in organizations with large hourly and salaried workforces.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel & MS Powerpoint, required
Certifications (Preferred)- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification.
- HR certifications such as SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR.
