Back End Developer - Rust Location: Silver Spring, MD (Remote) Duration: 12 Months
As a Back-end Developer, your role could include building services, REST APIs, and state aware workflows largely in cloud environments. We love collaborating with teammates on new app designs, partnering with front-end developers, Quality Analysts, Business Analysts, and other team members to combine work into a cohesive product, and improving existing services.
Job Responsibilities / Typical Day in the Role
Develop and maintain applications using cloud architecture working in Jira and Git
Ability to build from user stories and be active in technical design
Build efficient, scalable, secure, and observable applications
Able to take and give feedback in team meetings and code review
Build and maintain highly scalable services and workflows
Be proactive and responsive in addressing technical issues
Must Have Skills / Requirements
1) Solid experience with Rust as a primary language
a. 5+ years of experience; Additional experience with one or more of the following: Node, Python, C#
2) Firm understanding of cloud infrastructure
a. 5+ years of experience; AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure.
3) Ability to take initiative
a. Ability to quickly pick up training, ask questions when unsure, and action items without being asked. The team is looking for an open communicator who isn t afraid to ask for assistance.
Nice to Have Skills / Preferred Requirements
1) Experience with Temporal or comparable code-as-workflow engine
Soft Skills:
1) Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
2) Understanding of document database development
Technology Requirements:
1) Capable of self-deployments in a well-defined container pipeline
2) Firm understanding of cloud infrastructure
3) Solid experience with Rust as a primary language and one or more of the following: Node, Python, C#
4) Understanding of SQL and document database development
5) Experience with workflow engines (SDVI Rally, Airflow, Step Functions, Argo Workflows, Jenkins, etc.)
6) Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
Note: Candidates must be able to work EST working hours regardless of location.
