Quality Assurance Spec (Kafka Tester)
Duration: 6+ Months
Rate: Open
Location: onsite 5 days (on-site interview )

- Second Preferred: Pittsburgh PA, Birmingham AL, or Dallas TX
Person must have:
- Proven experience testing Kafka-based messaging systems (JSON, Avro, Kafka, etc.)
- Experience with continuous integration and automated testing frameworks (Cucumber, Karate, or similar)
Roles & Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of Kafka concepts, including topics, partitions, producers, consumers, and security.
- Perform Kafka message testing using formats such as JSON and Avro.
- Configure Kafka clients and troubleshoot Kafka-related issues.
- Verify data integrity across Kafka streams, including serialization/deserialization and data validation.
- Design, develop, and execute test plans and scenarios to validate Kafka functionality, including data production, consumption, and message processing.
- Perform API testing by designing, developing, and executing test cases using Postman and Swagger.
- Validate API responses for accuracy, response codes, performance, and error handling.
- Conduct both manual and automated API testing.
- Write and execute SQL queries and perform hands-on testing with Oracle and MongoDB based on mapping logic.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and use tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Xray.
- Support continuous integration pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
Must-Have Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with Kafka message testing (JSON, Avro, Kafka).
- Strong expertise in Kafka client configuration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with continuous integration and automated testing tools (Cucumber, Karate, or similar).
Flex Skills (Nice to Have)
- Strong knowledge of API testing disciplines and methodologies.
- Experience with API design, documentation, and testing using Postman and Swagger.
- Proficiency with SQL, Oracle, and MongoDB.
- Working knowledge of Git.
- Experience working in Agile environments using Jira, Confluence, and Xray.
Nice to Have
- Experience testing SOAP APIs.
Education / Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related technology field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
