Software Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Software Engineer in Columbus, OH.

Responsibilities:
URDF/XacroDevelopment:
* Consultant developers will support Path Robotics engineers in generating and validating robot models, including:
* URDF/Xacro files for robot arms, end-effectors, sensors, and external axes
* Collision meshes and simplified geometry
* Joint limits, transforms, inertial parameters, and kinematic chains
* Validation in RViz or equivalent visualization tools

MoveItConfiguration:
Developers will assist in building MoveIt configuration packages tailored to the welding cell:
* SRDF creation and planning group definitions
* Kinematic solver configuration
* Collision matrices and allowed-collision rules
* Controller and end-effector configuration
* Planning pipeline setup (OMPL, Pilz, etc.)
* Integration support for AI-generated welding trajectories

Cell-Specific Setup Files:
Developers will create or update:
* ROS/ROS2 package structures
* Launch files for simulation and hardware
* YAML-based configuration files
* TF tree definitions and calibration transforms
* Scripts for testing, validation, and workflow automation

Testing & Validation:
Developers will support:
* Simulation-based validation of URDF and MoveIt configurations
* Execution of test trajectories
* Collision-free planning verification
* Initial hardware bring-up support (remote unless otherwise arranged)

REQUIREMENTS:
Path Robotics requires the following baseline competencies:
* Junior-level software development experience
* Python proficiency
* YAML configuration knowledge
* Comfort with Linux terminal tools
* Ability to work remotely within approved regions

Optional/Preferred Skills:
* SolidWorks (CAD ingestion and mesh simplification)
* Blender (mesh cleanup and visualization)
* ROS or ROS2 experience

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
