Position Summary
Certified Technical Experts, Inc. (CTE) is seeking an experienced Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to provide cybersecurity engineering, risk management, vulnerability management, and secure software delivery support for Federal public health technology. The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer works across application, cloud, platform, DevSecOps, and program teams to ensure security requirements are integrated into design, development, deployment, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Support implementation and continuous monitoring of Federal cybersecurity controls and security engineering practices.
• Apply FISMA, NIST RMF, NIST SP 800-53, and related security requirements to application and platform activities.
• Coordinate vulnerability scanning, triage, remediation, tracking, and verification across technical teams.
• Integrate SAST, DAST, dependency, container, and software supply-chain security practices into the development lifecycle.
• Support security assessments, authorization activities, control evidence, POA&M management, and audit responses.
• Review architecture, configurations, code-delivery processes, and technical changes for security implications.
• Support SBOM generation, dependency risk management, and secure software supply-chain practices.
• Partner with DevSecOps and engineering teams to implement security controls with minimal delivery friction.
• Investigate security findings and provide clear remediation guidance and risk communication.
• Maintain security documentation, metrics, procedures, and evidence repositories.
Required Qualifications
• 8+ years of cybersecurity engineering, information assurance, RMF, or application security experience.
• Strong knowledge of FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, RMF, ATO, vulnerability management, and Federal security controls.
• Experience with SAST, DAST, dependency scanning, container security, and secure software development practices.
• Experience supporting cloud, Kubernetes, DevSecOps, or modern software delivery environments.
• Ability to analyze technical findings and develop practical remediation guidance.
• Experience preparing security documentation and assessment evidence.
• Strong understanding of identity, access control, encryption, logging, and security monitoring concepts.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred: Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, or a related discipline.
Target Certifications
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
• CompTIA Security+
Equivalent or advanced certifications may be considered where appropriate based on the candidate’s experience and the needs of the position.
Preferred Experience
• Federal health IT cybersecurity experience.
• Experience supporting FISMA High or other high-impact systems.
• Experience with DevSecOps and software supply-chain security.
• Experience with Fortify, dependency scanning, container scanning, and SBOM tooling.
• Knowledge of AWS and Azure security controls.
Work Authorization and Federal Suitability
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be able to successfully complete the applicable Government background investigation.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain required Federal credentials and information-system access.
• Must comply with applicable Federal security, privacy, confidentiality, and acceptable-use requirements.
