Role Overview
The Project Engineer IV is a full-time, onsite role supporting facility and capital projects within the Lafayette plant. This position is responsible for managing and executing equipment relocation and new installation projects, ensuring safe, cost-effective, and timely completion.
The role emphasizes hands-on project execution, contractor coordination, structural review, and cross-functional collaboration. The Project Engineer works closely with manufacturing, process engineering, maintenance, safety, and operations teams to validate layouts, assess feasibility, and oversee implementation.
Work environment consists of approximately 80% indoor and 20% outdoor activities.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution & Facilities Engineering
- Lead and execute facility engineering projects, including:
- Relocation of existing manufacturing equipment
- Installation of new equipment
- Structural analysis and foundation reviews
- Concrete coordination and demolition activities
- Support systems integration of manufacturing equipment and facility infrastructure.
- Validate equipment layouts and ensure feasibility prior to execution.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, hazardous materials, and ergonomic standards.
Design & Technical Review
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications.
- Utilize AutoCAD or Creo (3D CAD) for design and layout review.
- Develop and maintain technical specifications and functional requirements.
- Evaluate industrial equipment for acceptability and recommend modifications when necessary.
Contractor & Vendor Management
- Obtain, review, and manage contractor quotes.
- Schedule contractors and oversee work execution through completion.
- Supervise contractor activities during standard operations, off-shift work, and weekends.
- Participate in vendor engagement and equipment selection.
- Review proposals, approve drawings, and prepare purchase requisitions.
- Challenge non-standard vendors or equipment selections based on best practices and engineering judgment.
Cost Estimation & Capital Planning
- Estimate costs for equipment, materials, and installation to determine feasibility and ROI.
- Manage projects ranging from:
- Small-scale projects: $5K–$10K (single-day relocations or minor layout changes)
- Large capital projects: Multi-million-dollar, multi-year initiatives
- Provide project status updates, reporting, and execution oversight.
Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement
- Investigate system failures, inefficiencies, or performance issues.
- Recommend design improvements and system enhancements.
- Stay current with technical advancements in manufacturing systems and facility design.

Education & Experience
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Open to: Other Engineering disciplines or Engineering Technology
- Master's degree: Accepted
- Associate's degree: Considered with 10+ years of relevant experience
- Ideal Experience Level: 5–7 years of hands-on facility or project engineering experience
