ERP Transformation Leader / ERP Program Manager

Location: Sacramento, CA – Hybrid
Work Arrangement: Potentially 1 day per week onsite. Exceptional remote candidates may also be considered.

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced ERP Transformation Leader / ERP Program Manager to provide strategic and program leadership for a large-scale ERP modernization and replacement initiative.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading enterprise ERP transformations, developing ERP roadmaps and governance, managing cross-functional workstreams, and working directly with executive leadership and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead ERP modernization strategy, readiness planning, and transformation roadmap development.
  • Develop and manage integrated program plans covering ERP strategy, business process transformation, requirements, data readiness, integrations, organizational change management, procurement, solution selection, and implementation readiness.
  • Establish program governance, decision-making processes, escalation paths, roles, responsibilities, and accountability.
  • Coordinate activities across Finance, Human Resources/HCM, Student/Campus Solutions, IT, and other business functions.
  • Assess organizational capacity, staffing needs, and resource requirements for ERP planning and implementation.
  • Develop program schedules and implementation sequencing based on business priorities, dependencies, operational cycles, and resource constraints.
  • Facilitate executive-level discussions regarding ERP strategy, scope, priorities, risks, decisions, and organizational readiness.
  • Coordinate business process, requirements, data, integration, OCM, procurement, testing, and technical workstreams.
  • Support development of budgets, staffing models, implementation approaches, and resource plans.
  • Support ERP procurement and selection activities, including ERP solution and systems integrator selection.
  • Manage program risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, and corrective actions.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on program status, milestones, risks, decisions, and readiness.
  • Ensure business stakeholders maintain active ownership and participation throughout the ERP transformation.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience managing large-scale ERP implementation, modernization, replacement, or enterprise transformation programs.
  • 7+ years of experience leading complex technology or business transformation initiatives involving multiple business functions or organizational entities.
  • 5+ years of experience developing and managing ERP/program roadmaps, integrated project plans, governance structures, resource plans, and implementation strategies.
  • 5+ years of experience facilitating executive-level and cross-functional stakeholders, including decision-making, competing priorities, and executive reporting.
  • 5+ years of experience managing programs involving business requirements, BPR, data/integration, OCM, procurement/vendor activities, testing, and implementation readiness across multiple workstreams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading an ERP replacement from strategy/readiness through RFP development, solution selection, systems integrator selection, and/or implementation.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP, Workday, PeopleSoft modernization/replacement, or comparable enterprise SaaS ERP platforms.
  • ERP transformation experience within higher education, California public sector, or large decentralized public organizations.
  • Experience leading ERP programs involving Finance, HR/HCM, and Student/SIS or similarly complex functional areas.
  • Experience developing business cases, TCO/cost estimates, staffing models, implementation sequencing, or ERP modernization budgets.
  • PMP, PgMP, Prosci, SAFe, or comparable professional certification.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a senior ERP transformation leader who can operate at both the strategic and execution levels. The candidate should be comfortable working with executive leadership while providing structure and direction across multiple functional and technical workstreams.

Experience transitioning organizations from highly customized legacy ERP environments to modern enterprise ERP platforms is highly desirable.
