Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst to join their Division of Information Technology Services (ITS). This individual will be responsible for establishing quality assurance standards, developing comprehensive testing strategies, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions across enterprise applications.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in manual and automated software testing, test planning, Agile methodologies, and defect management while collaborating closely with development teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain quality assurance standards and testing methodologies.
  • Create detailed test plans, test cases, and test scenarios based on business and functional requirements.
  • Perform end-to-end testing of internally developed and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications.
  • Execute functional, regression, integration, system, and user acceptance testing.
  • Identify, document, track, and verify software defects.
  • Recommend and implement automated testing opportunities where appropriate.
  • Utilize testing tools to automate integration and user interface testing.
  • Analyze application documentation to validate functionality and technical architecture.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project teams to ensure software quality throughout the SDLC.
  • Review test results and provide recommendations regarding release readiness.
  • Participate in troubleshooting application issues and resolving complex software defects.
  • Assist with software deployments and installation into multiple environments.
  • Contribute to change management processes and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide Tier III production support as needed.
  • Document testing procedures and contribute knowledge articles within the IT Service Management (ITSM) system.
  • Communicate testing progress, risks, and results to project stakeholders.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field plus 3+ years of Quality Assurance or Automated Testing experience.

OR

  • 3+ years of relevant Quality Assurance, Software Testing, Business Analysis, or Software Engineering experience. Additional relevant work experience may substitute for formal education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience writing detailed test cases and test scripts
  • Manual and automated software testing
  • Regression, Integration, System, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Defect tracking and management
  • Software troubleshooting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with JSON
  • JavaScript knowledge
  • Familiarity with IBM DB2 UDB
  • Experience testing Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications is a plus
